About Arthur

I love what I do. I swim on my own as well as with the U.S.A. swim team. I have just graduated from Westminster with a major in chemistry, and am now working with the National Geographic educational program, Animal Jam. I am a beekeeper, and my principle role at Animal Jam is to present on camera to produce educational videos about animals, primarily bees and other insects.

I have been guided by the International Baccalaureate program, and have traveled to Mexico, Costa Rica, Columbia, Panama, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Argentina, and a few other countries to practice language and explore the cultures of the world.

I am an actor and comedian, and so you may see me as a reporter on the HBO film: Mosaic, as Brigg's scout on the ABC original TV series: Blood and Oil, or as Ben in the hit comedy production: Italian Holiday.

I am an FAA registered drone pilot, and so you may see my aerial footage in various shows, movies, and videos.

I am available to teach about any of my skills or to simply talk about my experience. Send me an email, and I will respond quickly!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

As a Duke-award winning ACT scholar, I scored in the 95th percentile in all of my subjects on the ACT. I think the ACT is the best exam to study for, and I have had 5 years of experience tutoring to many students.

Anthropology

Planning a minor in anthropology at Westminster College, I have studied much about the main sections of anthropology, including linguistic, physical, and cultural anthropology. I also know a great deal about human evolution and archeology, which is also my personal favorite part of anthropology. I have excelled in my classes while conducting some of my own research and I have much to share about all fields in anthropology.

Archaeology

Planning a minor in anthropology at Westminster College, I am currently enrolled in human evolution and archeology class. Archaeology being my favorite part of anthropology, I excel in the class while conducting my own research in the field and planning for a career in archaeological anthropology after graduating from college.

Chemistry

As a chemistry student at Westminster College, I am currently enrolled in advanced chemistry courses, and I have already taken and passed the general chemistry I and II, scoring in the 100th percentile in the national ACS standardized exam.

Discrete Math

As a math minor at Westminster College, I have excelled in the subject of discrete mathematics, proving many theorems and equations. Discrete math has been my favorite math class so far and I enjoy showing my work to others.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been an elementary tutor at many different schools, tutoring children of all ages representing nationalities such as China, Mexico, Costa Rica, France, India, Panama, and many more. I am fluent in Spanish and I can communicate well enough in French that I can tutor students with foreign native languages or teach a student a completely new language. I have a very good grasp of language and grammar and I have improved several children's reading levels, both foreign and native. I am a volunteer America Reads tutor at Whittier Elementary where I have had much experience in tutoring language, reading, and also mathematics.

ESL/ESOL

While studying English as a native speaker at Westminster College, I am tutoring kids of all ages with the America Reads program at schools in the area. I have had experience teaching students that speak many different languages, including Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Russian. These languages are familiar to me, however, I am completely fluent in Spanish. I am also teaching English at International Down and Feather Laboratories, (IDFL) where there are many international chemists working in the company and I teach them complex vocabulary and methods of the laboratory.

Geology

As a chemistry major and paleontology minor at Westminster College, I have taken courses such as intro to geology and intro to geography, and also advanced courses in geology such as sedimentology, stratigraphy, and principles of paleontolgy.

Organic Chemistry

As a chemistry student at Westminster College, I have taken organic chemistry I and II. I have now experienced much chemistry past organic, and looking back at organic chemistry I now find it easy in comparison to higher chemistry courses. I am skilled in the lab and in the conceptual reasoning of class work in organic chemistry, so I will be able to help a student improve their labs, homework grades or test scores.

Phonics

I am an America Reads tutor at Whittier Elementary. I have improved several children's reading skills and pronunciation of vowels and consonants. I am also fluent in Spanish and I have worked with many Latin-American students helping them to improve their ability in reading letters, putting them together, and forming words. I have a very good understanding of language and I will be able to improve any children's language level, English being either a native or second language.

Spanish

I have traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay, Mexico, Argentina, and Columbia to learn Spanish. I have been speaking Spanish conversationally for almost my whole life, and have been tutoring Spanish as a subject for many years.

Special Needs

As an experienced tutor, I have tutored many students with special needs. I have taken several courses in the teaching methods of special needs students, and I have helped all of my students pass their courses or succeed in their desired field of study. I am patient with all learning methods of special needs students, and I love to help them improve and succeed.

Study Skills

I have graduated with a degree in chemistry with a 3.8 GPA from Westminster College, and scored with a 32 in English, Math, and Reading on the ACT, with a 36 in science. I also took the writing portion of the ACT exam, and scored a 31 on it. The secret to my success was that I studied extensively, and that is something I have learned to do quite well. As a tutor with many years experience, I have learned to teach my studying skills perfectly, and am glad to help with whatever your goals may be.

Swimming

My name is Arthur and I absolutely love swimming! Every morning I go swimming for a few hours to get a good workout. I gained my experience of swimming in summer swim camps as a child, in high school, and less than a year ago, I started swimming for the U.S.A. swim team. Although I have not yet received any national rankings, I am a fast swimmer and I will be able to improve your speed, endurance, or technique in the competitive or recreational sport of swimming.

Also, for those of you interested in the natural and effective healing of joints and bones, I have experienced firsthand the medicinal motions in the water and I will attempt to cure you or your loved one's condition with my experience.

Water Polo

While swimming with the U.S.A. swim team, I played water polo for many years with my team after swimming practice. Now, I am on the water polo team of Westminster College, where our team has won scrimmages against Park City, Skyline High School, and University of Utah.
