Hi, I'm Van! I will soon be finishing my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education. I love teaching math; I have been a math tutor for more than 8 years now. In addition to in-person and online private tutoring, I've worked as math instructor in the Student Learning Lab of Saint Johns River State College (FL), as a Calculus TA at Brigham Young University (UT), and as a "GEAR-UP" math tutor at Provo High School (UT).
I most commonly tutor high school and college students (but I also have experience tutoring people in middle school), and the subjects I am best at tutoring are Algebra, Geometry, and Precalculus.
I am able to quickly identify gaps in a student's understanding, and effectively provide reinforcement for those areas. I like to teach fun and clever memory devices for formulas, and use analogies to make foreign concepts more relatable. I also break down problems step-by-step, so that by the end of the lesson, the student fully understands and is able to do the math problems on their own.
