Utah State University (Elementary Education)
I was born and raised in Utah, and went to Utah State to earn my bachelor's degree. I teach 4th grade at a charter school, and I figured I might as well tutor during the summer! I love learning, music, reading, country dancing, and cooking.
The past four years as I've taught, I've realized how different students have different strengths and needs. Tutoring one-on-one (or even a small group) will make it easier for me to meet those needs. Teaching to different learning styles will be much easier with a small group.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am just about to start my fifth year of teaching elementary school. I earned my Bachelor's degree at Utah State University with a dual Early Childhood/Elementary Education major and a mathematics endorsement. I have taught K-2 math and 4th grade (all subjects).
At my school, we teach English Language Arts with the Spalding program. This program emphasizes "phonograms," or letters and letter combinations that make certain sounds. We then study new spelling words and mark the phonograms so students notice patterns. This is also useful when trying to read or spell a new word. I earned my Bachelor's degree with a dual Early Childhood/Elementary Education major.
I've played the piano for about 20 years. I started learning from my mom, then I took lessons from a private teacher for several years. I know the basics and can help someone build a good foundation for playing the piano.
