Hello and thank you for taking a look at my profile. My name is Andrew, and am a capable tutor in the Japanese language. I studied for 4 years in my high school in Las Vegas NV, the 4 years of study not only were based in reading, writing, listening and speaking; but also in the culture, politics, economy, literature, history and geography. Knowledge in these subjects can greatly increase the ability a student has to learn Japanese language because it will help them understand why the grammar and words are set up the way they are. Also, the ability to understand the culture of the nation will greatly aid the student in communicating effectively with native speakers.
After my 4 years of study in Las Vegas, I served as a full time mission for the LDS Church from March 2008 to December 2009. When I returned, I began to work as a tour guide for several Japanese tour agencies, taking Japanese tourists to various National and State Parks in the western United States, which helped me pay my way through college. This job and my time in Japan have given me insights into how to be a successful translator from English to Japanese and Japanese to English, as well as broadened my vocabulary to be able to converse about many different subjects with native speakers. Because Japanese is such a different language than English in writing, reading, speaking, grammar and structure, my experience has given me the ability to give more insight to the novice student of how to correctly study, use and think when speaking the language, making them more proficient at communication in the language.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
