My name is Dallin and I am graduating in 2023 from Brigham Young University with my undergraduate in Information Systems. I have a love for mathematics, business, and technology. I tutored elementary to high school math and have had great success with my students grasping the concepts they needed to learn. As I am soon graduating in business and technology, I have a desire to tutor in those areas as well, utilizing the same skills and methods that made my students successful in previous subjects I've tutored in.
Growing up and going to school with a large number of students in my classrooms, I rarely felt comfortable asking questions or raising my hand in class. I remember taking multiple classes in high school and college where I felt I didn't understand or enjoy the subjects. It wasn't until I met with a tutor in one of those subject areas that I felt I could ask my questions freely and discovered a love for learning. I noticed I was more curious about the subjects and wanted to know more. I wanted to know the 'why' behind the material instead of just pass the test. It was in those meetings with a tutor that I found I had a love for learning.
That experience, and consequent experiences with tutors, showed me the importance of having a tutor that was kind, patient and truly enjoyed helping others to learn. Meeting with a tutor allowed me to ask questions I wouldn't have in class, get personalized help for problems I was having or concepts I wasn't quite grasping. I recognize the difference a tutor made in my academic career and I hope to be able to have that same impact on other students that are struggling with any number of subjects. I have a passion for helping students find excitement in learning!
I have tutored my siblings and friends for years now in multiple math subjects ranging from geometry to calculus to AP test prep and ACT studying. I have used excel in classes and work for over 3 years now and have become extremely proficient in various aspects of the program.
