BYU (Exercise Science)
Teaching has become one of my favorite things to do. I have always loved learning, and this passion has now extended itself to include helping others to learn. I love watching others light up as they come to understand something they have been striving for!
My experience in tutoring is as follows: I minored in Spanish at BYU. I have taught Spanish to service missionaries for almost 3 years for 20 hours/week, both in Provo, UT and in Mexico City. I currently use my Spanish on a daily basis. Besides running track and cross country in high school, I have participated in various marathons and have developed my own training schedule. Majoring in exercise science has given me valuable skills and knowledge to know what is happening inside the body when specific outward signs are being manifest. Working with the BYU track and field and cross country teams has given me experience in working with common injury prevention and rehabilitation. As far as music, while taking my own lessons from a professional teacher, I have also taught younger students on my own.
Through teaching experiences I have had over the last several years, I know that everyone has an individual learning style and pace. I will work at your pace and ensure that you are learning; but I will also do my best to push you to reach your potential. Teaching gives people a unique perspective on being able to see others potential before they realize it, and I am committed to help you reach that potential and go beyond; as your potential is not limited to what you nor I see.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in receiving tutoring. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your goals! Teaching has become one of my favorite things to do. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied piano (taken lessons) for 12 years. During that time I also taught my own younger students. Knowing how to play other instruments besides piano has given me a wide scope to know different learning styles and common problems.
I have taught Spanish to church service missionaries for over two years. Within 6 weeks they have a high level of working vocabulary, and have gone through all the verb tenses plus additional grammar lessons. I minored in Spanish at BYU, and use my Spanish almost on a daily basis. I have also helped to create and update materials used in classroom settings.
Apart from running track and cross country in high school, I have also trained for and run various marathons, for which I have set my own training schedule. Working with the BYU cross country and track teams has given me additional experience with injury prevention and rehabilitation. Graduating with a degree in exercise science has given me valuable knowledge to know what goes on inside the body when certain outside signs are expressed.
