HI, I'm Boise. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, and studied doctoral courses in Nuclear Engineering. I've worked in the space industry for over 30 years, and am always excited to see students start in STEM fields.
I'm currently focusing on tutoring Statics, Dynamics (aka Analytical Mechanics), and Strength of Materials (aka Mechanics of Solids) courses in the early Civil, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering curricula. I've learned that there are always multiple ways to explain these topics, and the best mentors help each student find the way that best suits them, producing that "aha!" moment that students need.
I spent my undergraduate years as a teaching assistant for Statics, Dynamics and Strength of Materials courses, primarily assisting students with homework and concepts. There I learned to match the explanation to the student, and also learned to love seeing the light of understanding as difficult concepts suddenly became understandable. As an engineering professional, I was a mentor for a steady stream of interns working in our labs. Our interns were handed challenging projects, and I found that the same tutoring principles from my teaching assistant days were applicable to the mentoring of interns as they tackled those challenging projects that most often required learning new concepts and skills. I also found the same satisfaction in seeing those students wrestle and succeed with those challenging projects.
I'm excited to take these experiences and skills in tutoring and mentoring and apply them to YOUR challenges!
I'm as excited about your educational and professional success as you are. Let's see what I can do to help you!
