Grantham University (Computer Science)
Hi my name is Andy, and I would like to take this time to describe myself. I am a federal government employee, I hold an associate in computer networking technology which was granted from University of Alaska, Anchorage. My bachelor's in computer science from Grantham University was awarded to me in 2013. In addition, I have certificates such as ABC Bartending School, 2003 MCSE from Microsoft (7 tests), A+ from Comptia (hardware/software computer test), and a security + certificate from Comptia (In-depth computer security).
As far as Spanish, I completed Spanish 4 in college, and I read Spanish books and listen to audio cds as a hobby. In addition, I have been to many Spanish speaking countries.
In chess, I won 2nd place in two state tournaments, I have been playing professionally for 18 years, and I am currently ranked as an expert (Candidate Master).
My tutoring style is a basic approach with determining the level of the student, and then I will improve that student in areas that he/she is weak in. I use a progressive and active approach of teaching my students which I utilize by targeting different areas, and the areas that are most relevant for the student to succeed.
So far I have had a fair amount of tutoring in Chess, English, and Spanish. Even though I have tutored in those subjects, I never did it professionally before I joined this site. I have tutored in age groups 6-33. Fixing computers is my full-time job, but Chess and Spanish are my hobbies, and passions, and I enjoy sharing those with other people.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in learning Spanish or chess. Also, I would be a good person to contact if you are a native Spanish speaker that needs someone to teach them English. Hi my name is Andy, and I would like to take this time to describe myself. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified as I have won many chess trophies and money prizes. My current USCF information is available upon request. My method of tutoring will be to start with the basics and then work my way into the subtleties of chess openings, middlegame strategies, and endgame play.
I am qualified to be a tutor in this subject, because I am well educated in English since I have an associate's and a bachelors. I can also easily teach English to Spanish speakers since I am fluent in Spanish. I am over 30 years old and have a lot of experience reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English and Spanish.
I am qualified to teach Spanish as I know how to conjugate all the tenses, including irregular and stem changing verbs. I have also completed 4 semesters of Spanish in college, and have traveled to many Latin American countries. As a hobby I watch movies in Spanish, I read books in Spanish, and I listen to audio CDs in Spanish.
