University of Colorado, Boulder (Master's)
I have a Master's from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I having been studying foreign languages for a little over ten years. I have studied French, modern Hebrew, Ugaritic, Middle Egyptian, German, Coptic, Latin, and Greek. My strengths are in Latin and Greek, with Greek being my favorite language. I have taught Latin at the university level, and I have tutored students in Latin from ages 15 to 17. I have also tutored all ages in Greek. I love language and enjoy every opportunity to help others learn the rules of grammar and understand new vocabulary. My best teachers have always been those who have been passionate about the subject, and I can promise I will bring my passion for language to each tutoring session.
Language fascinates me, so I have spent many hours inside and outside of a classroom trying to figure out its finer points. I bring a depth of knowledge to my tutoring sessions, but am sure to convey complex principles in language that is comprehensible and most helpful.
My study of foreign languages has help me to revisit my native language (English) and better understand how it works. I have read and written extensively in English and it has given me a set of skills that I can use to help others master the language.
I enjoy opportunities to teach language. I can adjust to whatever pace and needs you have as a student. Contact me to discuss needs and schedule and we can get started. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied Greek for the last 10 years. Within that time span I have earned a Bachelor's and a Master's in Classical Greek. Outside of the classroom I have continued to study Greek extensively, especially Greek grammar and the Greek New Testament. I have tutored individuals in Greek, and I have also directed a class of about 6 individuals in the subject.
