Brigham Young University Idaho (Special Education)
I have been a special education teacher for eight years for Granite School District. I specialize in behavior and autism. I love what I do and show that through my positive upbeat and fun nature. I have a dual background in special education and general education and love the diversity that it provides. My goal in tutoring is to build up a child's confidence in a positive way through fun engaging lessons and materials. I specialize up to third grade and enjoy working with all levels of learning in between.
My background with difficult students helps me be very flexible with learners and change plans quickly to ensure the material is being understood. I would love to also help with any child with special needs as this is my passion. I hope you will take the chance to get to know me and let me work with your amazing children.
I have obtained a degree from Brigham Young University Idaho in Elementary and Special Education. I have worked with students for the past eight years on building skills for math and teaching concepts in unique and fun ways.
During my education we were able to be highly trained in teaching children the steps to reading and English. We worked in the classroom often to help with fluency and reading comprehension. In my own classroom we work on pre reading strategies on a daily basis. I took three specific courses on Literacy and was required to pass a proficiency at each level.
My whole dual degree was centered on early childhood and special education. My student teaching was completed in a third grade class and I enjoyed working with those ages on math and reading. I am specialized to work with children that are behind and need help catching up to their same age peers.
All in all I am a very energetic, fun and positive teacher. I love working with children and it shows in everything that I do. I am available every day after school from 4:30 to 7:00.
