Hello, my name is River and I am recent graduate of New York University. In undergraduate, I studied Environmental Science and now I focus on soil and water biochemistry. I am going to graduate school to pursue a PhD in Environmental Science, where I am researching soil biogeochemistry but specifically the fate and transport of heavy metal contaminants. In college, I worth several research papers including some that have won academic awards and been published. I am well-versed in undergraduate and graduate level academic writing in both the sciences and In the humanities. I aspire to help students in both science and social sciences, but especially students in the sciences achieve their writing goals and learn how to communicate their scientific ideas in clearer ways. I typically use lesson-based teaching through the use of worksheets and tailored problem sets but I am open to tailoring my methods to a specific students needs. I do my best to make the experience collaborative and welcome feedback from both students and parents.
I have experience working in lab in undergraduate where I taught students in the areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) and have taught 3D modeling and science writing. I also have experience tutoring and editing my peers writing and I am familiar with one-on-one math and science tutoring with 6 months of experience. I am most comfortable tutoring students in chemistry, ecology, algebra, writing, and reading at the high school (9-12th) and undergraduate college (mostly first-year and sophomore). I would be happy to set up a free 15 minute consultation session to see if it’s the right fit for you. Please contact me with any additional questions, concerns or to book a session and I look forward to working with you!
