Hello, My name is Apolonio. I graduated from Tarleton State University and received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. I currently have my Teachers Certification in English Language Arts/Reading. I have tutored on and off for family and friends and now currently having to tutor my own children with their school work.

I have been involved in classroom teaching for over 17 years which have included elementary students to Adult Learners. I currently work in the Education Field and have become very aware of how important tutoring can benefit students. The earlier you start tutoring, the better the results will be. I love seeing the "light bulb" go off when the student finally understands what they are trying to learn.

I was raised speaking both English and Spanish. Eventually, I wanted to learn a 3rd language and therefore decided to pursue American Sign Language. I dove right into Deaf Culture at the same time learning everything I could about the language.

My family and I have been involved in American Sign Language now for over a decade. I have lots of friends that have also learned American Sign Language therefore I am always trying to sharpen my own skills. I have received a Professional Instructor Certification through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

I have also been a part of a Foreign Language Instructor Course which teaches specialized techniques to help the student learn a foreign language much faster. I strongly feel that if you set your mind to something, then you can accomplish it. The hardest thing to do at times is to take the first step. I hope your first step to learning American Sign Language will be to contact me so we can get that second step going. I'm open to any suggestions that you or parents may have to help you learn more effectively. You must enjoy what you are learning in order to learn it well.

I was raised speaking both Spanish and English. My interpreting training started at a very young age when like most bilingual families, I started to interpret for my parents when we would go to public places or even to apply for jobs. My translation experience again started at a very young age, when I would have to translate all paperwork that was sent home from school so my parents could know what they were signing. At the same time reading and translating important letters that would arrive in the mail. I currently work with Spanish speaking families helping their children succeed educationally.

Patient and helpful

We’ve only had two lessons and my daughter already feels more confidence in her ASL class. Polo is helping her work her way through the vocabulary and his patience and the repetition are helping in a way she can’t get from her online class. Wish we had done this sooner!

Great Tutor!!!

He’s really good at breaking things down and is fantastic are helping at different levels of Spanish. I used him for Elementary Spanish 1 and 2. I can honestly say I probably wouldn’t have passed without his help. He knows Wyzant really well too and made full use of their features to help me as well.

Amazing teacher!

He was great! Knew exactly what to do to help me best and was able to explain everything very clearly for me. He helped me convert my speech from English to sign language and did the glossing for me which was so helpful! He went through the speech with me in ASL until I fully got it. He was patient and very kind!! I am so glad he was the one who helped me! I can’t wait to work with him again!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor!

I absolutely loved sign language tutoring with him. He is extremely nice and very great about working with your schedule. One of my favorite things is he makes sure to answer all of your questions to the absolute best ability. He helped me improve my ASL skills as well as get a much higher grade in my class. Highly recommend!
