About Melody

I am available for tutoring all ages in Multi-sensory (Orton-Gillingham) reading and spelling and elementary students in math, science, social studies. I also coach students of all ages who have difficulty organizing for academic tasks and coach parents of children who have difficulty organizing due to ADHD, ASD, or other cognitive difficulties.

Many students face some challenges in their learning. Often struggling readers need individual phonics and spelling support as they learn the letter sounds and spelling rules. They additionally need the material presented in a logical and positive way, building on previous learning to mastery.

Students with learning differences such as ADHD or dyslexia also struggle to organize their work and time. I am familiar with classroom accommodations for students with learning differences and can offer suggestions for managing work from elementary school age through college. I am a retired teacher who works part-time as a dyslexia specialist. I have taught Public Montessori, Gifted Education, and Special Education in the past. I enjoy working with students of all ages.

I am interested in working with individuals in my geographic area and connecting with students via the online platform. I took a graduate course in online learning a few years ago and believe it may be helpful to some students who are interested in working remotely. In the online learning experience we will be able to share a whiteboard, send and receive documents, and video chat or text within the online environment provided by WysAnt.

In person $60 per hour. Online $30 per hour. I am available from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Central Daylight Time.
I prefer to work in libraries or bookstores with quiet areas when I meet students in person.
