I hold Texas teacher certification in the following areas: Early Childhood - Grade 6 Generalist, Early Childhood - Grade 12 Special Education, Early Childhood - Grade 12 Physical Education, and English as a Second Language. In addition, I hold advanced level certification as an academic coach. Academic coaches work with students on building executive function skills such as organization, time management, planning and prioritization, working memory, emotional control, initiation (opposite of procrastination), etc. I also have special training in a reading program called Master the Code (read more about this program in the Special Needs section). Finally, I also teach music. I have owned music schools in Texas, Alaska, Saudi Arabia, and Japan where I taught early childhood music, piano, and ukulele. Teaching is my passion! I think my greatest gift as a teacher/tutor/coach is my ability to connect with children. Children trust me, like me, and work hard for me. They do so because they feel loved, valued, and important. I expect good behavior and hard work, and teach 100% responsibility for our own success, and find that almost all rise to the task. I look forward to getting to know you and your child!

As a parent who had children who struggled in school, and a person who has ADHD and had her own share of struggles in school as an Elementary school student, I understand the importance of not only teaching content in a variety of modalities so that the child has the best chance of learning, but also honoring and nurturing the child's spirit. Children who are confident and believe in themselves will experience much more success than those who do not.

I am a certified special education teacher. In addition, I am licensed and trained to offer the Master the Code Reading program, which is a sound to code program that borrows the best from multi-sensory approaches such as Orton Gillingham and Lindamood Bell. The main difference is that this program also works to correct underlying deficits in visual or auditory processing, processing speed, working memory, or other cognitive and executive function skills necessary for success in reading and writing. Finally, I have completed many workshops and read countless books to help me help my son, who was dyslexic. Yes, I said, "was." Dyslexia can be overcome. By the time he entered high school, my son no longer qualified for the dyslexia diagnosis.

I am a certified special education teacher who specializes in helping children with ADHD and/or dyslexia. In addition to my teacher certification, I hold advanced level certification in academic coaching. Academic coaches work with students on building executive function skills such as organization, time management, planning and prioritization, working memory, emotional control, initiation (opposite of procrastination), etc. I am qualified to help your student in academics, organizational and study skills, behavior and emotional control, and more. As a parent of two adult children with ADHD and other learning differences, and a person who has ADHD herself, I have a special place in my heart for children trying to cope with the neuro differences. I work hard to build confidence and self-esteem and restore your child's natural joy for learning and new experiences.

Please contact me with any questions. I am happy to schedule a a video call to discuss your needs and my qualifications to make sure that I am the right fit for your child.
