About Isaac

Hello,

I'm a high school special education inclusion teacher with 5 years experience. For those not in the school system, inclusion is a model that involves students with mild to moderate learning disabilities being involved in regular classes. I teach alongside another classroom teacher in the classes where my assigned students are. Due to the small size of the district, I co-teach both science and math classes.

Working in this area provides the opportunity for 1 to 1 interaction with students that allows them to understand lessons better. I love working with students to find what's missing in their understanding of science or math subjects and working with them to fill in the blanks so to speak.

During my undergraduate years, my major was originally Chemistry which requires a much more in-depth understanding of mathematics and more class requirements. I studied Algebra I, II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I. Professionally, due to the small size of my employer district, I have co-taught mathematics classes for 5 years along with science. That includes high school level Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus.

I graduated from The University of Texas Pan American, UTPA, (now UTRGV) with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 2011. My major was Biology and minor in Chemistry. Along with extensive class hours, I was also an undergraduate research assistant during that time working on different research projects. Professionally, I'm a certified high school science teacher with a composite certificate (all science classes grades 8-12). I also have 5 years teaching experience working alongside other science teachers.

I work almost exclusively with special education students with learning disabilities including ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, or other unspecified but diagnosed learning issues. In practice, this involves studying the student's academic capabilities to scaffold instruction according to what is being expected of them and making sure it is all aligned with the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).

I look forward to working with anyone who is struggling with their workload. Although I work with special education students, I'm not limiting myself to that. I want to work with any and all students who are seeking to learn. Math and Science are subjects that a lot of people struggle with, but with careful instruction and hard work we can get through together. Don't hesitate to contact me anytime to arrange a session or sessions.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I'm a high school special education teacher with 5 years experience in the area. I currently hold a valid teaching certificate in the state of Texas that allows me to teach special education from the grades EC-12. The majority of my assigned students are classified as Learning Disabled with ADD/ADHD/Dyslexia along with emotionally disturbed students or students with health issues.
