I have been married for the past 17 years and have a 16 year old son. One thing I enjoy about tutoring is to get across to the students areas that they have struggled with previously, as they are now learning in those areas.
I have worked with special education students as an aide and substitute for the past five years, currently am working on my teacher certificate as I substitute. I believe that all children can learn, but not all the same way or with the same focus; but children can learn in their own way. I am for students and for learning. I especially enjoy tutoring elementary students in reading and vocabulary since this is the primary basis for a lot of different learning. I teach reading knowing that reading is the foundation and other subjects would benefit as well.
I enjoy English language especially in the areas of reading by having the students to identify the different types of grammar. When students know the specific vocabulary in a story or book then they will do better with the comprehension. It is important for the students to understand the new vocabulary words when learning new materials.
I think the most important reason I teach students phonics is it helps them to hear the sounds of the letters. I make it plain for the young students, realizing that through the sounds of the letters, blends, and word families, words can be built. I teach young children the importance of phonics so that they can build words and then read.I am excited to instruct your elementary age student in reading.
I have a bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. I have finished a Elementary Education degree so I am confidant in my ability to tutor elementary age students. In the specific manner to tutor students, I utilize hands on materials that would best assist the students to comprehend vocabulary in their reading. I make up raised word cards , so the students can feel the different words, especially the words that the student is having a hard time reading. I would do this same kind of hands on activities for different phonics to help the student to learn. I would introduce reading materials which would assist the student in success, as they learn. I assist the students with hands on activities to learn the different sight words. Thank-you for the opportunity to tutor your elementary age student. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed an Elementary Education degree. I have worked with students as an aide and substitute where I have worked with students learning the different sounds of the letters . The students learn to sound out the different letters, seeing the letters together in a word. I also helped the students to understand the different phonics rules so they can associate with the word better while they learn to read.
