I have experience private teaching brass players of many ages, and I hope to help your child improve their playing and enjoy music even more. Hi! I'm Jaewoo. I'm a college senior and trombone performance major at Baylor University. I have experience private teaching brass players of many ages, and I hope to help your child improve their playing and enjoy music even more. I was a drum major in high school, which meant I was responsible for leading almost 200 marching band members, teaching them how to march and play. Through this experience, I've learned how to communicate concepts to others, how to teach effectively, and how to help others fully understand their music. I hope to teach your child and apply these skills so that they can reach their full potential as musicians as well as human beings.

I am a proficient trombonist; I've won spots in the Hot Springs Music Festival and Round Top Music Festival Orchestras, and I've participated in numerous county and All-state honor bands. I even played in the Honor Band of America in 2016. I've won my school's concerto competition twice. I'm also a capable euphonium (baritone) player, and I have taught both instruments to many different students. I also have extensive experience in music theory, as I passed the level 10 CM test for piano and received a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam. I've helped my peers in their theory classes often, and I would be glad to help you/your child as well.
If you would like to contact me or a reference for further information, please contact me. I am willing to do online lessons, and I can connect a high quality mic to my laptop so that the student can hear and imitate my sound. Thank you so much and hope to hear from you soon!

Music

Ear Training,

Ear Training

I recurved a 5 on the Ear Training section of the AP Music Theory Exam. I also passed the CM Level 10 Theory Test. In studying for these tests, I often helped my peers learn how to differentiate between confusing intervals and chords, helping them improve greatly. I also apply my ear training skills through arranging music by transcribing chords, rhythms and melodies by ear.
General Music,

General Music

I am a proficient trombonist, and I will be majoring in trombone performance in college. I also studied piano for over 8 years, and I am very capable in music theory. I was selected as one of my school's drum majors, and I have won my school's concerto competition twice and have been a participant of county, state, and national honor bands. Through mentoring middle schools, privately teaching a trombonist, coaching at music camps, and attending a leadership camp in Indianapolis, I have gained the communication skills necessary to show and explain musical concepts to students.
Music Theory,

Music Theory

I have received a 5 on the AP Music Theory Exam, and I studied theory for many years while learning piano, helping me pass the CM Level 10 Theory Exam as well. I have tutored other students while in high school, and I also have experience with score study through my time being my high school's drum major.
Trombone

Trombone

I have been a member of numerous county and All-state honor bands, and even played with the Honor Band of America last year. I have won my school's concerto competition twice, and next year I will be majoring in trombone performance. I have also taught trombone often, from elementary and middle schoolers to private teaching a high school freshman. The experience of being a drum major for my marching band has given me the necessary communication skills to teach young musicians.

Knowledgeable and Helpful Tutor

He assisted me in reviewing my latest assignment to ensure that I understood any problems I had with it. He was patient and didn't rush me. I would definitely like to have him tutor me again soon.

Patient and organized

Jaewoo worked on some basic techniques with my son. He is a great instructor and is very patient. My son is shy and he completely understood how to engage him during the lesson. We look forward to more lessons with Jaewoo!
