About Blake

Bio

I have a degree in Information Systems which is comprised of computer programming, math, and economics. After working in IT for 10 years I moved back to Texas to help my mother prepare for retirement by renovating the home she plans to retire to, and to focus on getting into law school. I found a job as a long term substitute math teacher where I taught high school Algebra 1 and Math Models for one semester. Now I sub on an on-call basis. I prefer working with students one-on-one which is why I like to tutor.

I have a learning disability so I understand the struggle and frustration that comes with it. As a result, I'm very patient and non-judgmental. I overcame my LD and I like to help others do the same.

I spent one semester teaching Algebra I and I took 90 hours of math while obtaining my engineering degree.

I have a degree in information technology and I managed IT teams for 10 years where I became very familiar with Microsoft products such as word, excel, power point and MS project.

Since I still work as a substitute teacher, the best times for me are afterschool. I am flexible as to the location.

Microsoft Outlook,

Microsoft Outlook

I worked in corporate offices for 10 years where I used Outlook every day. As a manager a large portion of my duties involved reading and writing emails. I am patient and most helpful in a one-on-one environment.
Microsoft Project,

Microsoft Project

I spent 10 years in IT implementing large scale SAP applications. For six years I managed teams of developers on various projects where I was required to use MS Project. I do not consider myself an expert with this application, more of an intermediate. But I'm very good at navigating and figuring out what I don't know.

Logic,

Logic

I took several logic classes in college and I've studied around 800 hours for the LSAT, which has an analytical thinking component section called logic games. That said, it would be helpful to know what subject or test the student needs the tutoring for. My experience may or may not be sufficient.
