University of Texas at Tyler
My name is Megan B, I am 20 years old currently in my junior year at the University of Texas at Tyler. I am working on getting a major in Art and a minor in Graphic Design. I have traveled a lot, lived in both the United States and overseas due to my parents being contractors for the U.S military.
Through high school I tutored my fellow students in Graphic Design classes, Arabic, Algebra 1, and Geometry. In addition to that for my final project in my AP Biology class I taught a fourth and seventh grade class environmental science.
I even have experience being tutored so I have the basic understanding of what is required in being a tutor as far as how to go about creating a lesson plan and matching it to the students syllabus.
I love tutoring because enjoy sharing the knowledge that I've learned and transferring it over to others so they too will understand the subject the the way I was taught and gain from it.
I understand how to do elementary math and I am aware that in order to keep the students attention you need to find creative ways to teach it. I have been taught math in different ways so I can try different methods until I find one that works and I can follow a students syllabus so I can help a student learn what they are learning in class and not jump around from section to section.
I love Art and Graphic Design, I know how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign and have taught classmates in high school and have helped other students during my time and UTTyler by either teaching new tricks or giving them advice and feedback on their work.
As far as drawing I have learned the steps of how to teach drawing during my time at UTTyler from starting with Contour drawing to using different types of media including graphite pencils and charcoal.
I am available after 2pm Monday's and Wednesday's and after 5pm Tuesday's and Thursdays. Fridays and Saturday's I'm available anytime. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently in the BFA program at UT Tyler, and I have already taken the drawing class there and passed with an A. While there I learned how to approach teaching how to draw still life objects and how to add shading and texture to the composition. In addition to that I have learned to draw using different mediums such as Graphite pencils, and charcoal.
In high school I was part of the Design team while working on the yearbook. I am currently working on a Graphic Design minor at the University of Texas at Tyler. I am proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and have taught fellow classmates tricks and techniques to improve they're design.
