Stephen F. Austin State University (Master's)
I'm a third year teacher and single mother of two wonderful children. I have experience in elementary, high school & middle school classrooms. Since my son was diagnosed with learning disabilities I've decided to try to earn extra money in order to go back to school & pursue a degree in Special Education.
I obtained my Master's from Stephen F. Austin State University in December of 2013. Although I could obtain part-time employment elsewhere my passion is education & being elsewhere would not be satisfying to me nor would it be fair to my employer because I would desire to be in a classroom or tutoring.
When I comes to tutoring I love the autonomy of preparing lessons and the ability to differentiate the lesson to the specific needs of the individual child.
I am certified to teach English Language Arts & Reading for grades PK-12th grade. I speak using correct grammar and have a deep love for this particular subject.
I'm certified to teach elementary education. I have patience and knowledge in all elementary subject areas.
I am able to teach proper handwriting as I have had training on this and continue to utilize this skill daily in my classroom.
I incorporate flash cards and mnemonic devices to teach content.

I hold a Texas Educator Certificate for EC-6 classroom educator. Furthermore I am professionally trained in implementing, writing and providing classroom instruction and rigorous coursework. I am knowledgeable of the standards / TEKS and the challenges surrounding them. I have the ability to highlight these standards and individual students needs in order to meet or exceed the academic level of proficiency.
I am an educator who's worked three years in remedial courses to teach students test taking strategies specifically to pass the state standardized assessment. I have released assessments that I use to prepare students because the sentence stems are an important aspect when preparing for this test. I have a passing rate of over 67% of my students that pass the assessment after being taught by me.
I am a three year teacher. Having taught at some of the lowest leveled schools in poverty stricken areas I have been able to teach students study skills and habits that will last a lifetime. Each child has individual learning styles, interests and skills therefore I suggest and teach according to where the student currently is regarding his/her learning abilities. I use Kagan strategies, flashcards, and other memory strategies to aid in teaching study skills.
