I am Joseph T., I am a former participant at international math olympiads like IMO and APMO, I scored 770 in the SAT's Math Section and I was the president of the math club at Texas A&M University - Texarkana and I am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Being a math student for my entire life has taught me that the more you try to memorize, the harder it can get.
I focus on a logical approach, in my opinion, it's more important to deconstruct a formula and understand how to generate it rather than memorizing by brute force. Additionally, I was always arguing with my professors because I was constantly solving the exercise in a different way. Now I want to share some of these tips by tutoring and find the method that suits best for each student. I always try to make lessons fun and I make sure my students have time and material to practice.
I started tutoring as a hobby just by helping my classmates at algebra. Then I got a year of professional experience in a high school teaching algebra to a group of 10 students. These were average students who just wanted to get higher grades, but they ended up loving the class putting extra effort in order to participate in math olympiads.
I am open to addressing any kind of questions and I am always near my laptop or cellphone. I always answer in a couple of hours at most, and I am looking forward to helping students that are looking for one or multiple sessions.
