I enjoy working with all ages of students and enjoy all subjects. I have a passion for learning and a passion to see each person succeed and become all they are destined to be. I expect my students to press hard to reach their maximum potential. I will use every means within my power to assist each of you to reach your goals.
I am available for everything from homework assistance to remediation. I recognize that different students have different learning styles. One-on-one tutoring allows the information to be presented in the ways the student finds easiest to understand and remember. It is my desire to take complex issues and simplify them, making the complex very clear and able to be embraced so that the concept or principle is understood. My goal is to teach you how to learn- so that you no longer need me, but can learn independently, anything you desire.
I have taken students through every major subject from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, including: Phonics, Reading, Literature, Grammar, Writing, Math, Science, Art, German, History, Social Studies, Geography, Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Government, Study Skills, and more. I have taught in settings as diverse as Home School, Co-op School, Private School, Charter School, Public School, and individual and group tutoring. I am certified EC-6 All; 8-12th grade. My Combined teaching/tutoring experience covers over 20years.
My education includes honors courses at South Grand Prairie High School; Animal Science, Science Option (essentially Pre-Veterinary Medicine) at Texas A&M University; and Certification through the Teacher Preparation and Certification Program offered by Region VII Education Service Center. My Animal Science course work included over 20 credit hours of Chemistry, over 24 credit hours of Life Sciences including: Botany, Genetics, Zoology, Nutrition, Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology, as well as hours in Agricultural, Animal Science, and general College Basics. I enjoy working with all ages of students and enjoy all subjects. I have a passion for learning and a passion to see each person succeed and become all they are destined to be. I expect my students to press hard to reach their maximum potential. I will use every means within my power to assist each of you to reach your goals.
She has been a great help with Jayden in reading, math and writing. I would recommend her for tutoring in these subjects.
After several tutoring sessions, I'm very impressed! Lorelei-Kai has great patience when teaching my son. She also cares about what he thinks, and often makes him feel like his opinion matters and will let him lead the way. I have seen an improvement in his fluency and feel he is making great strides. She is also teaching me how to work with him while at home. She has been flexible about our meeting places, and her tutoring fees are very reasonable.
Lorelei-Kai S. Great session with her, it was a meet and greet. She seems to understand where my child is at in the subject. She had great ideas and suggestions to help him in class. Seems to know subject and material very well. Interacts well with my son. She is very knowledgeable about the learning process and the different styles of learning. Very eager to help him. Great session!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had a fervent interest in Botany since High School and am an active gardener. I am Certified in Middle School and High School Biology. Botany is an integral part of Biology and an important subject in the study of Animal Science (my major in college).
I am certified as a EC-6 Generalist and taught all levels for a number of years, several years back.
I enjoy Geometry and have taught it at several levels in multiple settings. Geometry is an incremental subject that is easily understood if the basic building blocks have been laid. Most difficulties with this subject come from an inadequate foundation. One of my first steps will be to check for student understanding of these core issues.
I have taught Linear Algebra in the classroom and tutored in this area. I find most students who struggle have not grasped the foundational concepts, often because they have not experienced a "hands-on" approach to the subject.
As a pre-Vet student, Microbiology was one of my favorite subjects. The world revealed by our microscopes and its effect on larger organisms is fascinating. Like standard Biology, it is not difficult to understand when approached systematically.
I am certified in all subjects at levels EC-6th grade. This includes the levels at which children are taught to read. Phonics is my preferred method of teaching children how to read. I have taught phonics several years. I have also tutored in this subject. I use a multi-sensory approach and have good results with all of my students.
