Hello, my name is Lauren! Let me tell you a bit about myself. After exploring multiple science disciplines, I decided to become a physicist and obtain a physics teaching certificate. After my undergraduate degree, I taught a year of 7th and 8th grade integrated science covering subjects such as biology, ecology, geology, chemistry and physics.

Besides teaching, I also love research. After my year of teaching, I started my physics PhD program researching GaN nanowires. Despite the demands of a PhD degree, I continued to be involved in education and developed a program to train graduate students how to teach. I also tutored high school, college, and graduate students while under the pressures of a PhD program.

I have studied physics for more than a decade and guided discussion sections at the collegiate level, being one of the most popular teaching assistants. I have also taught others how to teach physics, increasing my ability to help students learn on all levels.

As a physicist, I use math every day and am proficient in algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus. I understand math on a high level while also knowing how to help beginning students develop essential mathematical tools.

Teaching is my passion. I help students learn how to approach problems and guide them to the correct answer. I use leading questions to help students evaluate their thought processes and catch their misconceptions. My goal is to increase student's ability and confidence so my services are no longer required. Contact me so we can set up a session and learn physics and math together!

Calculus,

Calculus

Physics is applied calculus. As a physicist, calculus is an essential tool that I use day in and day out to solve real-world applications. Proficiency in calculus is essential to any physicists' repertoire. Currently, my favorite subject to tutor is high school AB Calculus.
Geometry,

Geometry

Physics, and particularly material science, uses various mathematical tools for understanding the world. The basics of geometry are essential to any physicist, using angles and shapes to describe various phenomena. As such, I am fluent in the language of geometry.
Physics

Physics

While I have a PhD in physics, I am also trained as a high-school physics teacher. I specialize in the use of leading questions to help students evaluate their thought processes and catch their own misconceptions. Currently, my favorite subject to teach is classical mechanics. I have also led discussion sections at the collegiate level in classical mechanics and electricity and magnetism along with tutoring multiple high school and college students in physics.

Very knowledgeable and patient tutor

Yiannis, my son, is enjoying the physics lessons with Lauren very much. He appears to be getting increasingly comfortable with the topic and is ahead of his class

Daughter was very happy

Lauren tutored 8th grade advanced math area. My daughter was very happy and confident after the session. We have booked another! Lauren was a good at communicating and understood how to get ahead of the subject matter that will help my daughter gain advanced knowledge.

More helpful that the professor

My daughter use Lauren and said that she was very helpful in breaking down Physics where her professor is lacking. She provided some extra questions for my daughter to work thru. We will use again thru out this semester.

Helpful Algebra Tutor

Lauren has been a game changer for my son, who has received almost weekly tutoring in algebra and geometry since he double-jumped in 7th grade. He will go into Algebra 2 for high school with increased confidence and knowledge thanks to Lauren. I especially appreciate her vocabulary review at the end of each lesson. I highly recommend her as a patient, knowledgeable tutor.

Knowledgeable and clear tutor

Lauren has been a great help to my daughter who was struggling to understand concepts in AP Physics. She walked through the material, clearly explaining problem sets and my daughter feels much more confident about the class and her performance.

Lifesaver!

Ms. Lauren is our lifesaver! This online school year was a challenge from the beginning, and when you add too many AP classes and a very competitive environment, you got the perfect setting for struggles. We reached out for help and we received more than that. My daughter loves Ms. Lauren and she jokingly tells us that she understands only “Lauren’s Physics!” We are very grateful for her flexibility and teaching skills. She turned an “ I hate Physics, I will fail”, to an -A in a hard AP Physics class with a well known high expectations/demanding teacher. We cannot thank you enough Ms. Lauren!

Kindhearted Teacher

Hi, my name is Hiep Doan and Lauren is my Physics’ teacher and formerly taught me math as well. She is one of the, or let alone the most kindhearted teacher you will ever meet. She will willingly and thoroughly elaborate and provide examples to assist me to understanding the concept I am learning.

Hiep, 29 lessons with Lauren

Awesome teacher!

My daughter gained back her confidence. She loves Lauren’s sessions very much! She keeps asking for more since the impersonal online classes from school are making this class even harder than it is already. Looking forward to work with her again!
