Hello, my name is Lauren. I decided to become a physics major and obtain my physics teaching credentials after exploring multiple sciences in high school and college. After my undergraduate degree, I taught a year of 7th and 8th grade integrated science covering subjects such as biology, ecology, geology, chemistry and physics.

Besides teaching, I also love research. After my year of teaching, I started my physics PhD program researching GaN nanowires. Despite the demands of a PhD degree, I continued to be involved in teaching and developed a program to train graduate students how to teach. While conducting research and attending graduate classes, I also tutored high school, college, and graduate students.

I have studied physics for more than a decade and guided discussion sections at the collegiate level, being one of the most popular teaching assistants. I have also taught others how to teach physics, increasing my ability to help students learn on all levels.

As a physicist, I use math every day and am proficient in algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus. I understand math on a high level while also knowing how to help beginning students develop essential mathematical tools.

Teaching is my passion. I help students learn how to approach problems and guide them to the correct answer. I use leading questions to help students evaluate their thought processes and catch their misconceptions. My goal is to increase student's ability and confidence so my services are no longer required. Contact me so we can set up a session and learn math and science together!

Excellent Tutor for Older Students

Lauren is very patient with adult learners. She worked with me on Algebra I for a college course and I am impressed with her instant grasp of what I needed to learn and her adaptive teaching style. Highly recommended!

Great session!

My son said it was a very good session! He's a freshman in college with a learning disability who has had a number of tutors for different courses. Not all tutors are the same...he said it was a great session with Lauren. Thank you!!

Adaptable, friendly, and smart

Lauren wasn’t given any prep materials since my son’s class changed course due to the shut down. My son came to her online lesson with a lot of questions but she was able to navigate quickly and assist him through an entire Physics lab. I enjoyed listening to her calm, positive teaching manner.

Helping my child to get back on track

Lauren is helping my daughter who has fallen behind on physics and math at school. She explains things in a way my daughter can understand easily and is clearing the weak points step by step. Now my daughter feels more comfortable about the subjects getting better day by day. Lauren is flexible, approachable and detailed. We are very happy with her tutoring.

Provides excellent resources!

I received a 96% on my physics 2 final because of Lauren. She is very patient and is willing to go over concepts many times in multiple ways to make sure you understand. She provided me with summary notes to look over and helped me to go through review worksheets. If there is something she wasn't able work out during the session, she email the detailed solution and is very courteous about not wasting the students time. She is also flexible with scheduling and was always able to fit me in. Together we worked on difficult homework problems, concept questions and developing a formula sheet. I wish I had found her in the beginning of the semester! Overall I felt that she was an amazing tutor that greatly contributed to my success.

Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful tutor

Lauren helped me review my Physics basics, which I haven't studied for 50 years. She was great at organizing the concepts, understanding my thought process, and being patient with clear explanations (that were tailored to what I was thinking at the moment).

Helpful Algebra Tutor

Lauren was very patient and helpful with my 7th grader's Algebra I homework. At the end of the lesson, she made sure he understood the concepts they reviewed by having him complete additional sample problems. I appreciate how thorough she was at confirming his understanding of the subject matter.

Patient and knowledgeable tutor

Lauren helped my daughter with Physics. My daughter found Lauren's help valuable and seems more comfortable with the material and has a better idea of what she needs to learn next. Recommended!
