I've been through it all, including earning a PhD and enjoying a rewarding career. Based on my broad experience and deep love of learning, I've passed on what I learned to countless young people. Now I would like to help you achieve your goals, too.
I offer tutoring for the SAT, GRE, CLEP, and GRE exams. I also help students prepare for the AP exams in Statistics, Human Geography, US History, US Government & Politics, and Environmental Science. In addition, I can assist you with homework, research guidance, college applications, and writing assignments, regardless of your educational level. I also tutor grammar and vocabulary-building. And I don't just tutor -- I also mentor: If you have questions about how to navigate school or college, need help sorting through university choices, or want to enhance your study skills, I'm there for you.
I have a long history of "A" papers, and as professional I was the "go-to" writer for every organization I worked for. As a college professor I was constantly grading papers, too, and sharpened my ability to evaluate the writing of others. At one university, I developed the department's first "Writing Across the Curriculum" course, which put a strong emphasis on student writing and feedback.
I achieved a score of more than 700 on each component of the SAT exam. I know what it takes to succeed in test-taking.
I can do a lot for you. But I have to hear from you first. Please feel free to contact me with your questions or concerns. I'll be happy to talk to you about your goals and ambitions. Thanks! Joyce is an amazing teacher. I just went back to school after 20 years out so going back to math subjects has been especially hard. Joyce has that special gift of explaining in simple ways and 'telling the story about it' so you really understand it. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
One of my primary subjects is SAT Math. The level of math tested in the ACT is not significantly different from that in the SAT, except for the inclusion of statistics (also one of my primary subjects) and trigonometry. As you can see, I have noted Algebra 2, which includes trig, as a subject I teach. I have tutored students on all four sections of the ACT, including Math, for several years.
