Spanish tutoring: I studied Spanish at Texas Tech University; continued my education in St Luis Potosi, Mexico; returned for some graduate school coursework and taught high school Spanish for 4 years at two different high schools. I've also taught several Continuing Education classes to adults. Being a non-native speaker, I understand the challenges involved for other non-native speakers trying to learn an entirely new language. With that said, you WILL learn Spanish.
Fitness: I am an L-2 certified Crossfit coach and very well-versed in all the movements including the Olympic lifts i.e. clean and jerk & snatch. Health and fitness need to be part of a well-balanced life. Finding a Spanish tutor to relate to my teenage son was difficult. Tried the store front tutors and those saying they could get the job done but it wasn't working until we found Todd on WyzAnt. Todd relates to a young male teenager who really does not want to learn Spanish but needs to. Todd is helping our son get it done with a very successful approach. Mucho gracias!!
Todd is hungry for his language, which is what it takes in order to become fluent. He is open to whatever you want to study and offers insight on any aspect your studying. He understands your way of thinking and likes to reason grammar with you so that you understand it. Todd is a great tutor.
Very much enjoyed being able to rely on Todd to tutor my teenager in Spanish over the whole year. Todd's a talented, dependable and self-motivated tutor! THANK YOU TODD FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Todd is very patient and has a very kind disposition, which my son responds to. We have only had a few tutoring sessions, but I do feel that progress is being made. I also learn a few things to do when I help my son b/t lessons.
Todd has helped my son study for several tests in Spanish 2 and we can see a difference in his confidence. My son says he knows the material very well and his pronunciation is excellent. He keeps him focused and on task even during the longer sessions which isn't always that easy. He always tries to accommodate our busy schedule and is always on time. He has a pleasant demeanor and is very easy to work with. I would highly recommend him for anyone needing help with advanced Spanish and will definitely continue to use him!
I've used a variety of tutors over the years for my son and no tutor has connected as well with my son and been able to explain things so effectively to him. We've only had two sessions so far, but the results seen during that short period are extremely promising. I look forward to my son continuing to work with him this spring and set a good foundation for his high school years ahead.
Todd has been fantastic for my son, who is struggling in Spanish 2. My son lacked a good Spanish foundation and had fallen behind this school year. Todd has gone out of his way to help my son learn what is needed. My son's availability is limited due to sports, but Todd works with his schedule until they can find a good time. Todd is very knowledgeable, patient, professional, always replies back promptly, and my son can relate to Todd. He's definitely earned our respect.
Todd is very knowledgeable in the area of Spanish. My son said he felt more comfortable and understood the concepts better when he explained them than he does with his Spanish teacher at school. We will definitely continue to use Todd as a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a walk-on decathlete at Texas Tech University. Hurdles were my main event. Five other Americans and I were selected to compete in Holland. I'm currently a Crossfit coach and am well-versed in both traditional training and Olympic-style lifting. I'm confident that if the athlete is willing and eager, anything can be accomplished.
I'm very confident in spelling. I've done several adult spelling bees and have placed first in one of them (team-based).
If help is needed in spelling Spanish words in Spanish, I can help there too.
I ran track at Texas Tech University. I have a technical eye, so I'm confident that I can help you attain your track and field goals.
