University of Houston
My name is Sadaf and I graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I have worked with all ages of children, Pre-K through Eleventh grade, and was able to assist them with their needs to the best of my ability. In the past, I have tutored a 7th grade student and a 12th grade hearing-impaired student in all subject areas, therefore I have experience with a wide range of age and subjects. Currently, I am a first grade teacher at a public school and I teach all subjects.
My goal is to help students reach their full potential by providing them an educational yet a fun environment. I believe that if students are not having fun while learning then they are not learning but simply memorizing the material for the time being. Additionally, I intend to help my students find study methods that are best for them so they are capable of mastering their weakest subject(s).
Thank you for reading my profile, I look forward to meeting students and helping them achieve their goals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a qualified EC-6 Generalist Educator, and currently teach first grade at a public school.
Currently, I am teaching first grade students who are refugees how to read, write and speak English. I have also taught Pre-K for 5+ years and both of these experiences require me to have basic skills of teaching phonics.
Being a senior at University of Houston-Downtown and studying towards becoming an Elementary School teacher requires me to be a master in study skills. I recently became aware of the "PQRST method" and highly favor it when it comes to studying for major exams. However, for lower grade levels, visual imagery, context clues and flashcards play a major role when studying towards the STAAR test, or any other District Assessment tests.
