Spanish and literature Teacher
Univ. in Argentina (Master's)
Univ. in Caracas . Venezuela (Master's)
I am a certified and experienced Spanish and literature teacher. My studies took place in Argentina and Venezuela. I have been studying many years in both countries in order to get two important degrees and a Master in Arts, Spanish Literature. Later on, I have been working all my life teaching Spanish at different education levels. Because of my long experience, I know how to work with teenagers and college students. Nowadays, language studies are aimed at giving students communication skills, and it is always important to have such skills handy if they're ever necessary. Students must know that each language has four important areas which are reading, writing, listening and speaking. All of them must be combined when someone wants to learn the selected language.
As for my methods, let me say that they can vary according with the student and his/her background knowledge of the language, his/her strengths and his/her weaknesses. Obviously, it will be necessary to test the student with a short evaluation before we begin our lessons. During my sessions, I focus on the auditory exercises, like videos or recordings, which have different accents (Spanish and Latin American) so that the student may become familiarized with all different types of Spanish.
I use to teach Spanish to many High School students in Sugar Land, Fort Bend District in Texas, so I know perfectly, the Fort Bend Syllabus for all the Spanish Levels. I can help students with vocabulary, grammar, reading, comprehension and writing papers in Spanish.
At the same time, I'm teaching adult students with an interest in learning Spanish, whether it be for their work or personal life. Their goals are different to the other students, so in those cases, our emphasis will be done over the communication and oral skills. I am a certified and experienced Spanish and literature teacher. To my potential students! I'm offering special rates for tutoring Spanish Language to groups. Mrs. Alicia B.
As a teacher I want to be able to communicate with my students' Spanish speaking parents. I felt very comfortable with Alicia's method of teaching and I'm confident that Alicia will help me accomplish my goal.
Better than I could have ever anticipated. For a first day, it was great. She immediately jumped right in and made me feel secure that I will overcome my weakness and will conquer this language. Couldn't ask for any one better.
I had the pleasure of having Spanish tutoring with Alicia. As an adult learner seeking to advance my career, I had no textbook or class lesson plan to work from. Alicia was very personable, easy to work with, and very flexible in terms of working with me on my specific goals. She also has a flawless Spanish accent and is very easy to understand. I highly recommend her for students of any age or ability level.
Alicia was a great Spanish tutor for my son. She was on-time, very professional, and prepared. My son's remarks regarding the session was, "She taught me more in one hour than I've learned all semester!"
Ms. Alicia has helped my son tremendously and she is very patient in working with my son. Her years of teaching experience showed when it came time for my son to understand all of the Spanish concepts. I would definitely recommend Ms. Alicia to anyone! I appreciate her tutoring my son and helping him pass Spanish II. Great working with you Ms. Alicia - Thanks!
She is great in her subject. After few classes she understands the student's weakness and strengths, and focuses on teaching towards doing better with the students' weakness. I am very happy with her teaching.
I started the lessons to prepare for the travels to Central and South America.
She gives me many knowledge of Latinoamerica, not only the language itself. That makes my learning dimensional, and helps me to keep interested in the culture of the Spanish speaking countries. If I have some material that I want to learn, she is flexible and will answer me any time. I enjoy her lesson.
Mrs. Alicia is very patient and has been managed to help my son improving his Spanish grade significantly. She is always on time and a great tutor for my son.
Mrs. Alicia was always on time and eager to help. My son learned a lot from her. With her help and my son's hard work he ended up getting an 83 on the final.
Senora Alicia gives my daughter not only the ability to speak Spanish fluently but more importantly the confidence. She's extremely patient and understanding in the lessons. The mistakes made are never criticized but corrected with a smile. Senora Alicia not only has the skills but all the requirements needed in a tutor. I would highly recommend her to any struggling Spanish student because she takes the stress of learning the language away.
A satisfied mother.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a literature teacher who loves to read and analyze the different texts. Literature has always been connected with the world's history and the human beings. Reading the world's literature can teach any student the way to understand the world we live in.
There are billions of Spanish speakers around the world and they have some particularities that distinguish them one from the others. But, I think that is better to learn the original Spanish first and, after that, if students want to do it, they will be able to recognize some of the regional Spanish. I always reassure the practice of the four areas of language in my classes: reading, writing, speaking and listening. I believe that it is the most important method to learn a language.
