Texas State University
I started taking formal Spanish classes in 6th grade, continued through junior high and high school, and earned a minor in Spanish at Texas State University. In college, I traveled abroad to Cuernavaca, Mexico where I studied Spanish and perfected my everyday communication skills. I have also lived and worked abroad in Villahermosa, Mexico.
Being a native English speaker, I remember the difficulties I had when first learning Spanish and I use that to tap into my students' needs. I have classroom and real world experience and over the past 10 years I have developed the tools necessary to simplify Spanish grammar for my students. My expertise is in breaking difficult concepts into understandable terms and making sure my students have the knowledge they need to ace their exams. Whether we are working on listening, reading, writing, or conversational skills, I make sure that my students walk away from every session feeling more confident and in control. I am passionate about seeing my students succeed and nothing makes me happier than sensing their excitement about becoming bilingual.
In addition to being a Spanish tutor, I am also the author of a Spanish language textbook which breaks down difficult grammatical concepts and I provide a copy to each of my tutoring clients.
It would be my pleasure to be the Spanish tutor to help take you to the next level in your Spanish learning. If you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate to ask. Looking forward to chatting about you or your student's needs.

Kristen worked with my son over the material he needed for a quiz the next day. After the lesson my son was so much more happier and felt ready for the quiz, as he has struggled with Spanish B since school began. Kristen also supplied us with some fantastic resource materials which have helped. I feel now with Kristen's help my son will achieve a much better grade for this next 6 weeks session.
Kristen has been awesome during the crazy time my family is going through! We are moving out of the country and our life has been turned upside. Kristen is there for us when and where we need her. She is continuing to help my daughter prepare for this big move! Thanks Kristen!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
