Hi. My name is Debrah and I have a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Human Development. I am presently preparing to take the National Counseling Exam to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. I am also a full time substitute at Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas. I have above average spelling, writing and communication skills in a variety of areas ranging from high school subjects to college classes.
I have had experience tutoring at the International School of Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand. I worked with students from K thru 12. I had the privilege of working with students from different countries, cultures including Thai children as well. I worked with children as young as kindergarten age through college prep. My primary objective was and is to not only present information to students in a manner that is specific to their learning type thus improving their understanding and retention of information, but also improve their confidence level. Both of these elements, I feel, will not only improve their grades, but the skills they learn will spill over into other areas of their lives. I firmly behave that all children are capable of learning, but they do not all learn the same. It is my job to create an environment in which the child is involved in their own learning outcomes.
Spelling, grammar, and English in general has always been an easy subject for me. I love to read and am a perfectionist when it comes to writing, whether it is as simple as a book report or as extensive as a research proposal. A well rounded individual should be able to command the English language. I can help students learn to expand their rudimentary writing and reading skills to a level which shows others they can think outside of the box. It is my goal to help students look at the bigger picture and instill in them a desire to be someone who can articulate their ideas either through written or verbal communication.
I would consider it a privilege to sit down with you and help you map out goals and attain them. Tutoring is not just about sitting at a table and trying to cram information into a student. It is about learning what you need to lead you to be the best student you can be. I love teaching skills that can be used not just academically, but in other areas of one's life. Hi. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
