Throughout my academic career, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by trailblazers in many disciplines who bestowed upon me the invaluable gift of mentorship. That mentorship from my peers and teachers is exactly what led me to numerous academic accolades nationwide—including recognition in the prestigious Siemens Westinghouse Competition and writings adopted by the Library of Congress—and a full scholarship to Princeton University. Moreover, as one of my most inspiring teachers once said, the highest honor one can receive is the opportunity to pay it forward. In my junior and senior years in high school, I began tutoring middle school students in science and writing. After going to college, I continued to pursue my passion for teaching both in and outside of the classroom. At Princeton, I was selected as a teaching assistant for organic chemistry, one of the most difficult courses for science majors, to lead weekly precepts (practice sessions) with over 25 students in attendance. Additionally, as the head news editor of the Daily Princetonian – Princeton’s award-winning student newspaper – I have mentored over 30 student reporters to publish over 250 news stories and commence their fulfilling careers as journalists. Furthermore, as a top-ranked instructor for a professional tutoring company in a high-performing academic district in New Jersey, I have accumulated over 500 hours of teaching experience. After my instruction, many of my students have scored above the 95th percentile on the ACT or SAT, placed in nationwide writing competitions, and earned admission to highly selective universities like MIT, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, and Duke. You can find reviews and testimonials about me by Googling SAT Smart.
Currently, I am a public and governmental affairs advisor for ExxonMobil in Spring, Texas. As such, I am only available for tutoring during after-hours and on the weekends in 1.5 to 2 hour blocks as my student requests. With the exception of a few cases, I provide all learning material—textbooks, printouts, etc.—during the course of my instruction. I prefer my lessons to be instruction-based with dispersed opportunities for student practice; the majority of practice will take place through the challenging homework I design and assign. As I hold myself to accountability and the highest standards, I will ask for feedback from both my student and his/her parent (if involved) after my instruction. Similarly, I will offer progress reports to my student. In addition to my one-on-one hourly instruction, I also offer group-lessons (at least two students) for $45/student if he/she would like to study with a friend. Additionally, I also offer college application support services for $80/essay.
Coming from a family of limited means, I firmly believe that education is a right and not a privilege. It never escapes that I am where I am thanks to the goodwill of many generous people. Consequently, I strive to provide the best service regardless of the economic capacities of my students. I was named the Maryland state honoree in the 19th Prudential Spirit of Community Awards partly for my work in pro bono tutoring. Should you need financial aid, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
I am very accessible by cell phone and email. I prefer to tutor in the business center at my apartment in the Woodlands or at a public library conveniently located for both myself and my student. I look forward to working with you and helping you in any way I can!

I scored an 800 on the SAT writing section and won a book prize. I have extensive experience with building the vocabulary of immigrant students both to prepare them for tests and to improve their linguistic abilities. I believe vocabulary learning comes with reading and writing, not with memorization. Hence, I often instruct using reading and writing assignments with target vocabulary words.
