Hello! My name is Jennifer, and I love helping students learn chemistry and mathematics. I have experience in tutoring both high school and college material in chemistry and algebra, including honors, pre-AP and AP levels in each subject.

I have a very deep love of chemistry and science in general, which is why I strive to help my students understand the science, not just "know" the science. With my chemistry lessons, instead of simply showing students how to "do problems," I coach my students through each step of the problem-solving process with chemical calculations. I do not skip steps with my students, and try to give as effective, thorough and insightful a lesson as possible. I am also available to help students in all levels of general biology as well.

Not only do I try to impart my knowledge of chemistry to my students, I deliver lessons in a patient and friendly manner, and even try to bring a sense of humor in order to make my students feel more at ease and relaxed. I found that this actually helps to make lessons more effective and productive for everyone involved, students, tutor, parents alike.

My educational background consists of a heavy dose of science and mathematics. I hold an Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of North Texas, where I focused on mathematics, chemistry and history. I am currently earning an Advanced Technical Certification in Biotechnology at Lone Star College- Montgomery. Because of my diverse educational background, I have a very deep understanding of chemical processes and life sciences. I hope to help you or your child learn science and math and come to love it as much as I do!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

This is the subject with which I first began tutoring math students. Here is where I believe it is important to teach students become truly "self-sufficient" in their math journey: I do not allow the use of calculators when I help Algebra students. I believe they need to develop their algebra skills with the use of their own mind and good old-fashioned pencil and paper. This is how I learned math, and I believe I have strong math skills because of that.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

This is where Algebra gets more involved but more exciting. Here is where I like to help students really become algebra experts so they are better prepared for higher levels of math. In addition to their regular assignments, I like to give students supplemental problems that provide extra but fun challenges, so they can strengthen their problem-solving skills.
Biology,

Biology

I am a biotechnology major at Lone Star College- Montgomery. I have a deep passion for biology, especially evolution, genetics, and cell science. I am always eager to share my knowledge and hope to instill an interest in life sciences in other students.
Chemistry

Chemistry

Chemistry is a fun science that often requires specific calculations- this is where I can help. With my strong algebra and problem-solving skills, I am able to help students with both chemical calculations and lab reports. I can also help students understand some of the more abstract laws and theories of chemistry.

Great Tutor!

Jennifer is very thorough and patient in her explanations. She is extremely helpful and shares her understanding and logic regarding the concepts of Chemistry that I am covering. She has helped me to better understand the periodic table and has familiarized and aided me in the many different calculations I must use. Jennifer has also been extremely helpful in helping me to understand and complete the lab assignments. All in all she is excellent and I am lucky to have her as my tutor.
