Hello my name is James and I would love to help you with your problems in math, science, and history. I that as your tutor I must determine what your strengths and weaknesses are. Math for example builds on previous experiences. In order to master multiplication and division you must have an understanding of addition and subtraction. In order to work with exponents, algebraic functions, and other principles you have to master multiplication and division.
In order to determine your weakness I believe multiple choice is best for that. After determining your weaknesses we will go over your what you know and tie it into what you do not know. I believe it is vital of connecting the missing link in principles.
Now to talk about myself. I am a Chemist by trade and recently started tutoring. My subject of tutoring was math from elementary to high school. I take what I do very seriously and take pride in my instruction. It is my point to have you leave each session with a better understanding of the material. James is working with my daughter. I don't have a strong scientific background so it's great to talk with a scientist who knows how to make Organic Chemistry make sense. He is good at explaining the big picture and the fine details. Very positive individual.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
