Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Nursing (Nursing)
Hey there! My name is Ashley, and I have a strong desire to help others succeed and excel! I am available to help tutor in pharmacology (related to nursing), all nursing courses at the undergraduate level, anatomy and physiology, and study skills. I am also available to help individuals with organization and time management. In order to achieve the best possible outcomes with my tutoring sessions, I would tailor my tutoring methods to each individual's learning style. Some of my most frequently used methods include drawing and labeling, writing and creating flash cards, practice questions and problems, verbalizing the rationale for WHY something is rather than ONLY memorization, and continuous encouragement and the maintenance of a positive environment. I also like to use outside resources such as videos and supplemental websites with reliable information. For learning organizational skills, I emphasize the importance of implementing an organizational tool (such as a planner, calendar on a phone, or sticky notes), the creation of lists, and learning to prioritize tasks by importance. I also incorporate time management skills into learning organizational skills. On a personal note, I am a graduate of Texas A&M (whoop!). I attended Texas A&M University from 2007-2010, completing prerequisite courses for nursing school, and then in 2010 I transferred to the Texas A&M Health Science Center. From 2010-2012 I was enrolled in the College of Nursing. I maintained a 4.0 and graduated Summa Cum Laude. In summary, it is my goal to help individuals understand material and excel in their courses.
I would like those seeking tutoring to come to my home location; however, if this is not possible, I am available to travel to your location or a place near it, such as a Starbucks, bookstore, library, etc. Additionally, I can set up time slots to tutor via email to answer questions and direct you toward reliable resources and videos. Hey there! My name is Ashley, and I have a strong desire to help others succeed and excel! I am available to help tutor in pharmacology (related to nursing), all nursing
Ashley provided tutor services for 3 months to my daughter who was taking anatomy at the local university. Not only did my daughter excel in the class she went into the next anatomy curriculum ahead of the game. Ashley was always available; her lesson plans were in depth, her knowledge of the information was exceptional, her preparation for exams was excellent! Ashley could identify when the student was not grasping the information and changed her approach accordingly. I know my daughter would love to have continued with Ashley but school has taken her out of the state. Both my daughter and I are both in agreement that teaching is a calling and Ashley has that calling. I would not hesitate for one minute recommending Ashley as a tutor.
I cannot say enough positive things about Ashley. She was more then I could have asked for in a tutor. On top of being extremely knowledgeable, she is also very kind and just a nice person to be around. She goes above and beyond what is expected of her as a tutor. She helped me over the summer to prepare to take the entrance exam for nursing school and I plan on working with her again in the future. Thank you Ashley!!!
Ashley is always super sweet. She is very knowledgeable and an overall great teacher. Ashley is very good about answering text messages and emails promptly. She is also very flexible because I have had to cancel and reschedule a lot. She has been very patient and worked around my schedule to get me into tutoring sessions with her. She is very organized and clear. I would recommend her to anyone in nursing school.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I find anatomy to be so interesting! It just amazes me how there are so many discrete individual parts that work together to function as one human body. I have a true passion for tutoring this subject. I have helped many classmates with studying and learning anatomy material. Multiple methods of learning would be used, including videos from reliable sources, copying images and practicing labeling, flashcards, fill-in-the-blank exercises, practice questions, and verbalization. Also, a firm understanding of definitions related to this subject area would be emphasized.
I am available to tutor individuals in the area of biology. I love this subject because it helps form a foundation for understanding other subjects in the science category. I would tailor tutor lesson plans to the learning style of the individual and would use multiple methods to help this information be understood. My goal is to create a positive tutoring environment where an individual can be relaxed and learn.
I am a bachelor's degree level prepared RN. I have had much education on health and fitness before and during nursing school. I also have knowledge about how fitness relates to different disease processes. I am also an avid "fitness nut" and have experience with fitness training. I have been consistently exercising for 10 years now and I have trained for different events such as 5ks, half-marathons, dance, cheerleading, and horseback riding. Becoming an RN further solidified my knowledge of fitness because I have an extensive amount of information regarding how the human body works.
I am a qualified tutor for the NCLEX. I am a bachelor's degree level RN and I have taken the NCLEX and passed the first time. I also participated in many classroom and self-study exercises to prepare for the exam.
I received my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University and graduated with a 4.0, Summa Cum Laude. I have a true passion for nursing! I have experience working on a cardiovascular telemetry floor and in a physician's office. I also have experience with volunteer nursing and a firm foundation of clinical experiences in all nursing areas throughout nursing school clinicals. Nursing is my passion, and to be able to share the knowledge I have related to this field is rewarding. Also, I know how TOUGH nursing school can be! It would be my goal to create a positive, relaxed tutoring environment with tutoring methods tailored to the individual's learning style. I have many resources for practice questions, information, and videos. We can even review clinical skills with some Mosby's clinical skills CDs that I have. I am so patient--we can go over things forwards, backwards, and upside down, until you understand the material and not just memorize it! I am also CPR, ACLS, and PALS certified, so if you need help with this material, I am available for that as well.
I am a bachelor's degree level prepared RN. I gained knowledge about the subject of nutrition at Texas A&M. I had to take a nutrition class in order to get into nursing school. I completed the course successfully with an A. I also have knowledge about nutrition as it was included in all areas of my curriculum in nursing school. We discussed in depth nutrition related to different disease processes. I successfully completed this curriculum with a 4.0 in nursing school.
I am able to tutor pharmacology, especially as it relates to nursing. I took a pharmacology course in nursing school (bachelor's level) and received an A. I also have many pharmacology resources and would like to share these with others. I feel confident in this subject material.
Isn't it amazing how the human body functions? Yes, you have the parts (or structure), but you need to proper mechanisms (or functions) to work in congruency with these structures. Structure and function go hand in hand! In tutoring for physiology, I would relate how things function within the human body related to its structure (and vice versa). This is the core of understanding this material, not just memorizing it! I will utilize methods that are unique and effective for each individual. Verbalization, practice questions, videos, and pictures will all be used. It is my goal and desire to help you understand how the tiniest functions build upon one another to create major functions within the human body!
My study skills have proven effective given my GPA of 4.0. I was able, in nursing school, to help peers with their study skills, and thus, they too saw an improvement in their test scores. I feel that study skills need to be tailored to each individual's learning style and using multiple methods to learn material. It is important to know and understand the WHY of something and not just memorize facts.
