I am an English and Spanish native speaker. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, English linguistics and French at the University of Houston. At the graduate level, I completed Spanish courses; I also earned my master's degree in education at Sam Houston State University.
My rich cultural background includes travelling throughout Latin America, and working in the medical and oil fields prior to becoming a teacher.
I have been a successful public school teacher for eighteen years. My areas of concentration at the elementary level have been English Reading and Writing; I also taught Spanish and English at the college levels.
My one-on-one tutoring methods ensure that my students know, analyze, apply, synthesize, and evaluate the concepts required to be mastered. I am a dedicated instructor, who takes into account each individual's learning style.
I only tutor in public places such as the Baldwin Boettcher Library Mercer Park, Humble, TX, 77338, or Starbucks Coffee, Spring, Tx, 77373. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an elementary school teacher (grades first through sixth) for fifteen years. My teaching areas include English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Tutoring is a critical component in a students' academic life. There is not enough time during the school day dynamics to absorb, elaborate, and internalize the variety of concepts learners are expected to know. So that students do not forget, or become confused with new information, these concepts must be practiced after school in order to reach academic mastery.
My instructional methods and processes adapt to each student's learning needs and style. In my tutoring sessions, learners question, read, discuss, analyze, and review the materials. And, with my guidance, my tutees feel confident in understanding homework directions, lesson assignments, projects due, or test study.
I have been teaching English grammar, language, reading, and writing for fifteen years.
My passion for reading and writing in English and Spanish is endless. My knowledge in adjectives, nouns, verbs, adverbs, subject, predicate, use of dictionaries, and web search is very extensive as well as my expertise in creating, proofreading, and editing essays.
The organization of ideas is crucial in the creation of a written masterpiece that articulates all of the components mentioned above in sentences that flow naturally, and convey the essay's message.
I am a Spanish native speaker. Besides that, I also earned my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Houston with emphasis in Spanish, English, and French as a second language. After obtaining that diploma, I attended two semesters of graduate courses in Spanish literature at the same institution. I also have a master's degree in education.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which means I read, translate, and write in both languages.
I have been teaching bilingual education in public schools for fifteen years. My students play visual, auditory, and kinesthetic games while they learn to speak and write Spanish. Because Spanish is a phonemic language, my students learn the process of syllabification. Furthermore, my students learn to read picture books by identify the parts of speech (nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs) with the sentences, which is a critical step in reading and writing a foreign language.
I look forward to teaching Spanish listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to your student!
