I needed help with an online summer course (precalculus), and Mr. Charles responded quickly to my initial email request and made himself available within a short period of time. We met twice to strengthen my understanding in certain mathematical areas pertaining to precalculus. In addition to being very friendly and patient while using time wisely, he was able to provide meaningful explanations and answers to my questions. While I no longer need further assistance with this course, I would not hesitate to seek his help again, if the need arose.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Over the past decade I have been tutoring high school students in mathematics and and several science subjects in NYS. All these students were enrolled in regents level classes and had to sit and take the exam at the end of the school year. While helping these students throughout the year I was also responsible for preparing students for the regents examinations.
