I am a recently retired Chemistry professor from a major state college. I have taught chemistry from Introductory to General Chemistry II lecture and laboratory portions. Previously I was a practicing analytical chemist for 23 years who has been trained in the West Indies. I have a deep interest in passing on my knowledge of chemistry and math, helping college and high school students to succeed in the science field where the need is great. Before becoming a professor in 2011, I have helped students (including my daughters) to pass general chemistry 1 and 2, organic chemistry and physics with grades of B and higher. I have also tutored many high school students in algebra 1 and 2, and geometry, also focusing on making sure the concepts for the FCAT has been grasped for mathematics. The tutoring sessions can be in person or online. one on one or as group setting. In the one on one setting, the student is assessed and approached at the level they are, introducing them to the basics necessary for success in the course. My students in the past have expressed the opinion that if their lecturer/teacher had explained the subject matter in the way I did, they would have done much better before my help. I love to tutor students who are really interested in understanding chemistry and math and have peaked the interest of students who were not at this level.
Since tutoring I have seen many students come to love both chemistry and algebra. I recognize the need for students to have a good foundation in the sciences so I am offering my services especially to students who want to have this.

CHM1025 chemistry

She is an amazing, patient and compassionate tutor. Truly grateful to have found her online. She is very easy to understand and takes her time to make sure the topic has been clearly explained. Thank you!!!

Exceptional at what she does!

My daughter was failing chemistry with an F ave. After two sessions, her average is now a C. Joan explains chemistry thoroughly in the way a child can understand, giving examples and multiple problems to certify their understanding! I would recommend her to anyone!
