I discovered my passion to teach during my high school career. Participating in PALs programs, mentor programs, and coaching basketball leagues, helped me prepare for my studies in the education program at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. I am in my second level education class, with plans to earn a Master's Degree in Education in 4.5-5 years. I plan to major in English and minor in Exercise Sports Science. After graduation, I plan to become an English teacher, as well as a high school basketball coach. I currently play on the women's basketball team at Austin College and I also serve as a tutor here at AC.
I specialize in English or Language Arts of all categories and levels, but I am also comfortable in levels of math up to Algebra 1, sciences up to 8th grade science, and history up to 8th grade. I also am taking my 5th year of German, so in the rare case a student should need help, I offer that as well.
My goal is to see evidence of growth, not only with grades, but also with social skills and study skills. I plan to get better myself as a teacher in order to become the most helpful I can.
I look forward to hearing from you!
My grandmother came to America from Germany when she was in high school. I grew up learning small German words and phrases, which influenced me to take German as my foreign language when I got older. Starting in 7th grade, I began classes. At Austin College, I just began my second semester of German after 4 years of German prior to college. I am fluent in simple German and I can assist students with grammar, word order, vocabulary, and dialect.
As English is my anticipated major, I am very experienced with dozens of essays, literature assignments, vocabulary, etc. I took two English college course my senior year of high school, and I am continuing to take more classes at Austin College. After graduation I will be a high school English teacher. I earned a nearly perfect score on the grammar and reading sections on the ACT.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
