Austin College (Mathematics)
Austin College (Master's)
I have spent 13 years teaching math at high schools in both Grayson and Collin County. Whether in the small classroom of the 2A school or the seemingly chaotic 5A classroom, my students have always progressed in their understanding of mathematics at all levels. I have taught the required mathematical courses of Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2, as well as the non-required classes of PreCalculus and Math Models. In a one on one environment, I will take the time to assess your misunderstandings and help you gain confidence as you move towards mastery of the material. As a high school and college athlete, I also understand the pressures of maintaining high grades while pursuing extracurricular activities.
Outside of the realm of education, I am a devoted follower of the USMNT and the San Antonio Spurs. I also spend at least an hour a day taking my friendly dog Jarvis for his two daily walks. My desire to see the world has taken me to almost all of Central America, but it has been way too long since I’ve used my passport.
Let me help you navigate through the maze of mathematics, assisting you all the way to the end. I have spent 13 years teaching math at high schools in both Grayson and Collin County. Anthony did a wonderful job preparing me for my Hesi test. I have been out of college for about five years, and lost very math skill I then possessed. He helped me brush up, and get re-familiarized with basic math/algebra. I definitely recommend him for any of your math needs. I passed the math portion on my test, and wouldn't have done so without his help. He is also very patient, and flexible. A big plus!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Taught Algebra 1 for 8 years
I taught Algebra 1 at Sherman High for 6 years, as well as tutored many students throughout my teaching experience. I understand what it takes to have a foundation in prealgebra to prepare a student for success in Algebra 1.
I scored 780 (out of 800) on the Math portion of the SAT taken in May 2015
Taught PreCalculus for 3 years
Completed Calculus 1, 2, & 3 at the college level so I understand why the skills are necessary if the student plans to continue progressing mathematically.
