Bio

I’ve always had a natural gift and aptitude for teaching and working with people, and I want to share my love for math and logic with others. I believe that students can learn difficult concepts best in a one on one environment, where we can spend time on what you need. I find that specifically when learning the “STEM” fields, people ask “Why do we need to know this?” To a math and science tutor, this just makes me sad. Both because it shows the lack of educational skill in their teacher and the fact that that student will not learn anything in that course. This is because students that don’t care about their learning will not put any effort or time into understanding.

Teaching Style

My tutoring approach is student-centered. I begin with a comprehensive assessment of your strengths and weaknesses, your learning style, and the conceptual difficulties you have in the subject matter. That way I can create lesson plans that are fined tuned to your learning style. I have two main types of tutoring sessions. In the first, I will help you with homework and projects for your classes. In the second, we go over the major concepts of the subject and what the purpose of it is.

Students are often not invested in learning the material because they do not see any real-world applicability to the subject matter. In fact, sometimes teachers don’t tell you why you are “forced” to learn what they tell you to learn. To overcome this, I give the goals of the subject with many real-world examples. Doing this will make the process of learning these hard subjects easier, and maybe even something to look forward to.

Qualification

I have over 3 years of professional teaching experience. I have taught for commercial tutoring companies since the beginning of my relatively long career. In addition to my private tutoring experience, I also have experience tutoring at both my local community college, and my local elementary school. I have only taught for big companies, and now I am moving to freelance and online tutoring so that I can help a wider range of people that need a more personal touch.

Conclusion

I invite you to contact me to set up a session. I believe we can help you both understand the material, and cultivate the interest in knowledge that will take you far in this world. When someone is struggling with a subject, I find it has less to do with the student and more to do with the instructor. If you find that you are just not getting it, I can help!

What a leap!!!

My child struggled with the basic concepts of Algebra when she first began her seventh-grade first marking period. She felt unmotivated and said, "I can't." Since she has been studying with Logan, her grade raised from a D to a B (85%). Thank you, Logan, for your patience and wealth of knowledge in Algebra I.

Very knowledgeable and easy to work with

Logan is working with my son on Algebra. We have only had one lesson so far, but he really likes working with him and he seemed to enjoy the lesson. My son said he might even be better than his teacher!

Highly recommended!!!

We're only having Logan for couple months and my son is going from the failed grade to 98. He is having so much confident now. He's even helping out his classmates (being a sub tutor LOL).

Excellency in tutoring, is Logan R.

Logan really helped me understand the why behind the rules in the maths. He also was able to provide additional insights that are necessary to understand the course curriculum. Thank you, Logan.

Great tutor, flexible, knowledgeable and friendly.

Logan tutored my son who wanted to learn calculus (never having taken it) and helped my daughter review the algebra she learned during the school year. He was great at individualizing their meetings and figuring out the best approach with each kid. After the session my son said that he felt really excited to work with Logan and that he was looking forward to the next meeting. I would highly recommend him.
