Teaching Style

My tutoring approach is student-centered. I begin with a comprehensive assessment of your strengths and weaknesses, your learning style, and the conceptual difficulties you have in the subject matter. That way I can create lesson plans that are fined tuned to your learning style. I have two main types of tutoring sessions. In the first, I will help you with homework and projects for your classes. In the second, we go over the major concepts of the subject and what the purpose of it is.

Students are often not invested in learning the material because they do not see any real-world applicability to the subject matter. In fact, sometimes teachers don’t tell you why you are “forced” to learn what they tell you to learn. To overcome this, I give the goals of the subject with many real-world examples. Doing this will make the process of learning these hard subjects easier, and maybe even something to look forward to.

Qualification

I have over 4 years of professional teaching experience. I have taught for commercial tutoring companies since the beginning of my relatively long career. In addition to my private tutoring experience, I also have experience tutoring at both my local community college, and Texas State University. I have only taught for big companies, and now I am moving to freelance and online tutoring so that I can help a wider range of people that need a more personal touch.

Academics

I have a degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science, and I will be applying to Masters and PhD programs in the fall. I am currently revising a paper connecting Graph Theory and Finite Group Theory, with hopes of continuing that path and studying Mathematics in Graduate School.

Conclusion

I invite you to contact me to set up a session. I believe we can help you both understand the material, and cultivate the interest in knowledge that will take you far in this world. When someone is struggling with a subject, I find it has less to do with the ability of the student and more to

Extremely competent computer science teacher

Great OpenGL and C++ tutor. Helped me get started with a complex assignment and then problem shoot about the same project and put finishing touches before I submitted.

Stephen, 2 lessons with Logan

Knowledgable and patient tutor!

He not only simplified the extremely complex c++ topics, but made sure that I completely understood everything before moving on! Really enjoy his teaching and will definitely keep having him help me out!

One of the best tutors in this Platform!

Very patient and helpful tutor. He has great skills to break down tough problems into small ones and explain everything in details. I got an A in my Discrete Course thanks to Logan.

Benny, 5 lessons with Logan

Very good at explaining and connecting abstract concepts

Logan did a great job teaching me how to tackle proofs regarding Group Theory. He takes his time to make sure you fully understand the question before moving on. Very knowledgeable in high level mathematics

Emil, 11 lessons with Logan

One of the best tutors I've ever had!

I needed some extensive prep for my Discrete Math midterm. Logan walked me through the difficult problems on the Midterm study guide and corrected my thinking on the other problems. I learned more in 2 hours than I did in 5 weeks. The midterm went very well, and I absolutely recommend him as a tutor!

Emal, 14 lessons with Logan

Knowledgeable and thorough

Logan explains things really well. He took the time to understand what my son wanted to learn, and is very thorough in teaching him during the weekly sessions. He explains to my son what he's going to teach and why it's important, gives a demo, my son gets to practice, and there's a lot of guidance. The context that Logan sets up really helps my son understand where each task fits into the bigger picture. Logan is truly awesome!!

Always get an A after tutoring with Logan

He’s the bomb.com and I’m never confused about the complicated topics after our lessons. Every time I have a lesson with Logan I score in the A range on the quiz/test we prepared for.

What a leap!!!

My child struggled with the basic concepts of Algebra when she first began her seventh-grade first marking period. She felt unmotivated and said, "I can't." Since she has been studying with Logan, her grade raised from a D to a B (85%). Thank you, Logan, for your patience and wealth of knowledge in Algebra I.

Very knowledgeable and easy to work with

Logan is working with my son on Algebra. We have only had one lesson so far, but he really likes working with him and he seemed to enjoy the lesson. My son said he might even be better than his teacher!
