About Hannah

"German is so hard!" Something you have probably heard right? I'm well aware of the difficulty of the German language for most students, but know that learning this language is not impossible!

As a German tutor, I try to find a pace that works for you. I am always open to breaking everything down step by step, particularly for those who are really struggling with the language. With all the students I have tutored for in High School, I do often stress the importance of repetition in order to learn a language and of course practice. If necessary, I will assign homework, in order to further emphasis concepts and allow the student to produce language. I have many fun and great resources that you can utilize in your journey to learn German, so don't be afraid to ask! I am pursuing a German Minor jointly with a teaching certification, so if you are interested in trying out a new language and allowing me to expand my abilities as a tutor and to practice teaching, I am more than happy to help!

Outside of school, I love music and love playing guitar. It has been one of my favorite hobbies for the past 8 years, and has expanded from the 6-string family to the 4-string family, as I am currently self-teaching myself the ukulele. I was trained on classical guitar for 3 years, but that did not stop me from expanding to electric and acoustic.

As a Guitar tutor, I am more comfortable helping students who are already enrolled in beginning guitar classes, in order to aid in the fluency of beautiful guitar playing and sheet music reading. I find that every student is different, when it comes to learning instruments, and will always find the best pace per each student I tutor. I may assign more practice, if necessary, to be completed in the student's own time, in order to emphasis the concepts we work on during tutoring sessions.

I started learning German my sophomore year of high school, and fell in love with the German language instantly. I eventually ended up skipping German 2 completely and moving on to German 3, in order to take the AP German Language and Culture Exam by my Senior year. I was apart of the German Club and German National Honor Society, which allowed me to tutor several students, who were struggling with the language. I was a straight A German student and made a 4 on my AP Exam. I have constant exposure to the German culture through friends that live overseas, so do not be afraid to ask about culture or Germany in general!

I started a Beginning Guitar Class in 6th grade and within the first year of learning the instrument, I had excelled exceptionally, comparatively to my other classmates. By the beginning of 7th grade, I was 7th chair in the Advanced Guitar Class, and by 8th grade, I was 1st chair. I have played both classical and modern pieces on both Acoustic and Classical guitars. I am able to read both sheet music and tabs, and aid others in learning how to read it with ease.

I am really looking forward to helping others out in both German and Guitar, as I am quite knowledgeable with both subjects. If you are looking for options to broaden your knowledge or begin your journey into the German language or guitar, please feel free to contact me.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

German

I was a straight A German student, received a 4 on my AP German Language and Culture Exam, and was both an active member of German club and German National Honor Society. I have tutored several German students from grades 6-12, and have worked with many students of different levels.

Guitar

I had 3 years of extensive training and instruction of classical guitar, including how to play chords, Fingerstyle technique, how to read sheet music, and how to sight read; I also have years of experience in reading tabs. I have only taught a few students how to play very basic pieces, therefore I am more comfortable helping to polish guitar skills and help beginning guitar student excel, rather than teaching guitar.
