Stephen F Austin St.Univ. (Mass media)
I was recently living in the Philippines for six months. There I homeschooled for an American family. They were living in Brooklyn and moved to the Philippines a few months before me. The kids were age four and six. I was teaching the six year old all subjects. I administered quizzes, tests, projects, and developed a grading system. Most things he did in the classroom were of third grade level. I also taught the four year old to read along with doing basic pre-school level workbooks.
In high school I tutored kids as well.
I LOVE ENGLISH! I graduated with a degree in mass media but I mostly focused on journalism and advertising which calls for tons of editing, proofing, knowledge of grammar and a good vocabulary. English was always my favorite subject growing up.
Elementary is by far my favorite age. It's the time where kids come ready to learn and eager to please you. They're old enough to have a developed sense of humor and personality and so sweet to be around. It's just a really fun time. Every week when I was homeschooling we had a different unit to study and the kids just ate it up! We studied habitats, animals, nutrition, people and culture, geography and maps, the list goes on.
If you want an individual who cares about you and our relationship as much as I care about your learning and individual growth, contact me. Let me know your needs. I am patient, kind, understanding, light-hearted, I love to smile and laugh and I love others to do the same. In most cases I learn as much from the student as the student has learned from me and it is a huge passion of mine, teaching. My short term goal is to get my TEFL certificate so I can teach English abroad so these experiences are also mutually beneficial and I am eager to learn with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
