& Texas State University (English)
I began teaching ESL in 2011 while working on my AA at a junior college, where I also worked in the writing lab. Upon completing my undergrad in English at Texas State University in 2015, I accepted a position as a private English and Spanish tutor for SLAC, and also began tutoring English for Sylvan Learning. In September of 2016, I completed my TEFL certification with The Language House in Prague.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Handwriting can be a challenging subject for children because they are still developing their fine motor skills, so an instructor on the subject should be patient and attuned to each student's learning style. I have experience in tutoring this subject through my home school background. I also enjoy studying handwriting and calligraphy as a form of expression.
Chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet! Granny squares, afghans, scarves, hats, mittens, amigurumi...
Crochet is a fun, simple, and relaxing way to get creative! My goals for a beginner in this subject include:
-Selecting compatible yarn, hooks, and patterns.
-One completed project.
With crochet, the possibilities are endless!
A public speaker has one of four goals: to inform, to instruct, to entertain, or to persuade. Each of these types of speeches has it's own role. For example, one might use a speech to entertain for a graduation or a toast. Or perhaps a speech to persuade or instruct for a presentation. Whatever the occasion, the ability to construct and deliver an effective speech is an essential skill of communication. My goals for this subject will be to teach the following:
-Proper speech structure.
-Research and proper written and oral citation of supporting material.
-Effective methods of delivery.
-Utilization of props.
-Techniques to decrease stage fright.
Public speaking can be fun, and is a great skill to have.
