Hi! My name is Andrew M. I just graduated from St. Mary's University as a McNair scholar and Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society Member with a B.A. in Psychology and a Certificate in Community Based Assessment and Evaluation (also known as CBAE, a certificate earned through completion of several advanced statistics courses). While at StMU, I presented 4 research projects, 2 projects being presented at SWPA and ABS. Before applying for graduate school, I scored 159 V 163 Q on the GRE. In the fall, I will be attending TCU for a PhD in Experimental Psych, specializing in Neuroscience.
Outside of school, I play guitar! I have been playing guitar for over 8 years and teaching for over 3. I greatly enjoy teaching guitar and have taught and been referred numerous introductory/beginner guitar students. In my time at StMU, I also received private lessons from Leslie Lyon.
I am experienced in teaching students. I have been teaching guitar since January 2019, I have been tutoring for various psychology and statistics classes since August 2020, and peer coaching since August 2021. Although I was not able to tutor in math because it was not my major or minor, I often aided other students with work for math classes as math has always been a strength of mine. In tutoring and teaching, I take the approach that best works for me when someone teaches me: I explain things simply, clearly, and straightforward, and then provide the student with direction, guidance, and clarification as needed as they explore their own ideas, applications, and build their own understanding of the subject. I am further motivated to continuously hone my teaching abilities by my future plan of working with students as a university professor. Furthermore, I find helping others learn and gain skills highly rewarding and very fun, and I am excited to work with you to help in any way I might be able to. Feel free to message me, I look forward to our work together!
