Hi! I'm Meghan, a high school senior with a 4.1 GPA that will likely attend UCLA or Rice University. In July of 2020, I was awarded the AP Scholar with Distinction. By graduation, I will have taken 14 APs. My SAT superscore is in the 99th percentile and my ASVAB test was a 96. In my free time, I’m usually at my piano! I performed at the Winners' Recital at Carnegie Hall (in NYC) for earning 1st with Honors in the 2018 Sonatina and Sonata International Youth Piano Competition. I’m classically trained and have consistently won awards at state solo and concerto piano contests and competitions.

I joined Wyzant's platform to help others succeed by sharing proven, effective study methods and teaching in a creative, engaging manner. I have a long history of teaching/helping others in community service, as a tutor/mentor for many years, and as a piano teacher for beginner pianists. My diverse extracurriculars allow me to interact with people from all backgrounds, which has given me experience in a wide array of teaching approaches for different learning styles. As your tutor, I would love to support you in reaching your goals.

I am very experienced in the SAT and after self-studying for several months, I have found a way to understand the test regardless of a student’s prior skill set. After analyzing the test format, I noticed common patterns and strategies to use on the SAT. If you can get in the mind of those who create the test you can take it with so much more confidence and understanding.

I have experience teaching people of all ages, but since I am young, I can better relate to and inform younger students in their high school classes and the college process from my own recent experiences. While I prefer virtual sessions, we can discuss arrangements for safe in-person sessions as well. Let me know if you have any questions and I am excited to meet you!

Patient and kind

Meghan taught my daughter piano with patience and kindness. They are just getting to know each other's style. We hope to continue lessons with Meghan weekly. She was knowledgeable and took the time to walk my daughter through as few notes and gave her tips.

Meghan is so knowledgeable about music and theory, I have really learned a lot and she's a great teacher! I feel that I have learned more from her than past teachers!

Very patient and highly skilled

My 7 year old grand daughter and I experienced the best first piano lesson. We learned so much our white keys for both left and right hand, rhythm, length of notes and more. Meghan's unique memory exercises resulted in our playing our first song before the end of our 1 hour class. Very impressive and cannot wait for our next class.

Great teacher!

Meghan is a great instructor, in just our first lesson she had so much insight to how I was playing, from my posture and my body to my finger placement and how I hold my hands. I had some thoughts about what I want to accomplish, but she added so much to the list that wasn't on my radar at all! She is friendly and easy to relate to and clearly very talented, I would recommend to anyone!

Helpful and patient tutor

Meghan is great! My pre-teen son has anxiety, but Meghan had the requisite skill set to teach him with patience and kindness. He really liked her, and I'm planning to request lessons for my even younger child as a result. The first lesson focused on learning scales for the left and right hand, note names and octaves, fingering for the scales, and learning "Hot Cross Buns" :D Following the lesson, and upon my request, she provided recommendations for a book series for both of my children and online resources, as well as a general daily homework plan. She also managed to help me to get him to trim his nails; he wanted the proper pianist nails after all <3.
