Hello, my name is Amy. I am 40 years old and have a wonderful husband of 14 years. We live in San Antonio, Texas and are avid fans of the San Antonio Spurs. We have an eleven-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter. I also have two Pekingese named Ginger and Sugar who are 14 years old. I have been a Registered Nurse for nine years and a Certified Pharmacy Tech for 20 years. I work in the Methodist Healthcare System as a Transplant Quality and Education Coordinator and for the University of Texas at Arlington as an adjunct faculty/Tutor and Coach. I received my Bachelors in Business Management in 2001 from Southwest Texas State University, an Associates in Liberal Arts in 2004 from San Antonio College, an Associates in Nursing in 2008 from San Antonio College, a Bachelors in Nursing in 2011 from the University of Phoenix and just recently completed my MSN through University of Texas at Arlington in 2016.

My experience with tutoring and teaching have been for the last three years. I have taught on campus and online for license vocational nursing and for Bachelor prepared nurses who are obtaining their Masters. I also prepare individuals for sitting for the state pharmacy tech board. My favorite subject in school was math. I have always saw math a puzzle that needs to be solved with use of formulas. What I enjoy about tutoring or coaching is being able to see the individuals have a light go off in their heads and realize that when working a math problem there may be more than one way to solve a problem and one of the ways is usually less steps. I love when I see students feel that they are successful in anything they do. Math is a subject that a number of people struggle in and when they start to understand the math they feel they have been successful.

Math is my strongest subject, especially any math that pertains to Algebra or any math classes prior to algebra which would be Kinder through eighth grade. In the past when I have tutors individuals in math, their grades have jumped from a C to a B and sometimes even a A. I have always enjoyed math and when every a coworker has a child that is having difficulty with math, I let them know I will be willing to help them.

I have been a nurse for nine years and a pharmacy tech for 20 years. Nursing is my passing and so is Pharmacy. I teach individuals how to calculate medication doses using dimensional analysis instead of ratio proportion. I find that students find it challenging to remember multiple formulas when it comes to drip factor, pediatric doses, conversion factors, etc... when they are using ratio proportion. I teach dimensional analysis and there is no formula to remember. The only thing the individuals as to know is how to set up the problem with the given numbers.

I am a nurse and educator. I want everyone of my students to be successful with school and career. I am here for you to help you be successful. My passion is in math, pharmacy and nursing. Please pick me and I will not let you down. You will be amazed at your success after receiving tutoring from me.
