I have over 25 years of teaching experience in Korean and ESL (English as a Second Language). Teaching is my true passion and a calling, and I love to share my mother tongue with people who are interested in learning! Korean culture has become very popular so I try to incorporate as much as I can with the language lesson. I am here to help you accomplish your new language goals. As a language teacher, I want to see your success and sense of accomplishment.

I majored in English Language Education for my B.A., and TESOL (Teaching English to Second Other Language Speakers for my M.A. I have been teaching English and Korean for over 25 years both in South Korea and the U.S.A.

I have been teaching English to ESL and EFL students who are from many different countries. I am currently employed at Saint Mary's University in IEP (Intensive English Program) as an ESL instructor and have been working at this school for four years. In addition, I am also working for Northwest Vista college as an ESL instructor. Furthermore, I have been teaching Korean at UTSA (the University of Texas at San Antonio) KKACSA( Korean American Culture Center in San Antonio) since I came to the U.S.A. I have been tutoring Korean as well in many different ages and settings. It has been a very rewarding job to teach my native language, and have been proud of being Korean as well.

Before I came to the U.S., I had worked as an EFL instructor to Korean learners and had been a manager at an English institution. Even though English is my second language, it helps me teach English in different methods to ESL learners.

I am very passionate, energetic, funny, knowledgeable, and responsible. I strongly believe that b

Hello, my name is Jinah and I am originally from Seoul, South Korea. I am a native Korean and have lived in the U.S. for eight years. I was born and grew up in South Korea until I came to the U.S. over 7 years ago. That being said, I had all my education in South Korea and am a fluent Korean speaker with linguistic knowledge. Being native Korean speakers doesn't mean that they are able to teach languages well. However, I majored in English Education of B.A. and TESOL (Teaching English to Second Other Language Speakers) of M.A., therefore, I know how languages are learned and taught to second language speakers. I have been teaching Korean and English over 20 years in both South Korea and in U.S. and have earned lots of experience in how I can help second language speakers learn better, faster, and more efficiently in a comfortable environment. I have taught Korean at UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio) as a Korean instructor and also I have been teaching Korean at KACCSA (Korean American Culture Center in San Antonio) since I came in the U.S. I have been also tutoring Korean on Wyzant and have gotten good feedback both from my students and their parents, so they have requested lessons continuously. I am so excited to help my students learn Korean and Korean culture that is my mother tongue. Learning different languages enhances one's life.

Culture, Citizenship, Lifestyle

We spent a lot of time going over how Korean citizenship works, social gestures to use in a formal and informal setting, and also discussing what lifestyle can be in Korea. Was a very productive session atypical from the structured, by the book lessons! Always an exciting time learning more about how the language can be applied in real world scenarios.

Perfect Flow

Jinah has a perfect balance of teaching you the language from the book and from real world examples. You will learn the fundamentals then she incorporates a real life example to reinforce the material you just went over. It works so well and has helped me remember details. She is an excellent teacher and every second is both productive and fun!

Excellent Korean Teacher

Jinah has been teaching me Korean for just about a year now on Wyzant. I have a very busy work schedule and cannot study on my own as much as I would like to, but despite this, I am still able to learn a whole lot with just taking Jinah’s online tutoring. I take a couple lessons with her every 2 weeks. When I started with her, I had zero knowledge of the Korean language. Now I can even write and read in Korean. She is very thorough and makes sure you understand the lessons before moving on. Jinah goes over formal and informal Korean rules as well as the basics of proper conjugation. I will continue my lessons with Jinah since I am learning a whole lot from her. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn the Korean Language. She even goes over some aspects of Korean culture, which is a plus. 감사합니다
