Hello! My name is Lance, and I am a Ph.D. Biomedical Engineer with a biomechanics specialization working as a full-time research engineer. What started as a way to earn money on the side while I finished my education has turned into a genuine passion for teaching and giving back. Hello! My name is Lance, and I am a Ph.D. Biomedical Engineer with a biomechanics specialization working as a full-time research engineer. What started as a way to earn money on the side while I finished my education has turned into a genuine passion for teaching and giving back. I know firsthand the value of education and how a bad experience in a class or with a teacher can be discouraging at best.

I will always be encouraging, optimistic, and I show students how to become confident in their abilities. I'm patient, flexible, and I know when a student is or isn't understanding the material I'm presenting. I believe that with the right teaching and a boost in confidence, you too can love learning as much as I do!

I've been tutoring for several years, and I'm comfortable in tutoring a wide breadth of subjects including math up to Calculus 3, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, MATLAB, and Statics.

My work as an engineer requires daily use of each of these subjects, which gives me the unique ability to translate school subjects into practical use in the real world. I believe that this practical application of these subjects, with examples in real-life engineering problems, makes the learning experience much more interesting! My approach is very individualized, as I'm well aware that not everyone learns the same way nor at the same pace. I take the time to get to know the student and create a study plan accordingly.

MATLAB

MATLAB

As a graduate engineering student, I taught an introduction to MATLAB college course (ME 208) at the University of Kansas. I learned how to use MATLAB six years ago as an undergraduate and have used it ever since. I use MATLAB every day in my research as a Ph.D. student and write thousand line+ codes frequently. I'm familiar with the syntax, the logic, for loops, while loops, if statements, etc.

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I received an undergraduate degree in Biomedical engineering at the University of Arizona where I obtained a basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles. I recently received a Masters degree in Bioengineering at the University of Kansas in the biomechanics track where I apply mechanical engineering concepts every day in my research. I've taken courses in statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, continuum mechanics, structural composites, finite element analysis, engineering analysis, etc.
