About Rebecca

I am a 10 year veteran teacher and am certified to teach English/Language Arts/Social Studies grades 4-8 as well as K-6 all subjects. I have taught English and Reading for the past 10 years and absolutely love teaching. In fact, I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was in Elementary School. I am enthusiastic, inventive, encouraging, and always trying to motivate the students I am tutoring. I believe that forming personal relationships and getting to know the student's likes and dislikes is the most important way to lead them to success. I have decided to leave the classroom and pursue more one on one teaching opportunities.

I love to read and write. I use a journal every day and constantly have my nose in a book. I will read young adult novels so that I can recommend them to my students as well as literary works. I coached debate at the middle school level for several years, so public speaking is a fun subject for me to teach. There are so many inventive ways to help students with public speaking.

I am actually a teacher who likes to make learning fun. I am well educated in the subjects I teach and am always prepared for the session with exciting, inventive lessons that will motivate and encourage students to want to learn. I am excited about the opportunity to work with students one on one and I will do my very best and put all of my heart into making sure my students have the tools they need to succeed.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
