Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I do not hold a degree in this topic, but believe I have a firm grasp of traditional religious fundamentals. During my childhood, I attended Sunday school each week and also passed a number of classes focused on biblical principles. This was many years ago, but I believe that the information I needed to succeed as a child/young adult are still relevant. I have plenty of material, including Bibles and Christian story books that will help to convey the lessons of the Bible.

Criminal Justice

I have a J.D. from Loyola College of Law. Criminal law topics include the fourth, fifth, sixth, and fourteenth amendment. These constitutional provisions provide specific guidelines that prevent the government from impinging upon an individual's liberties. These include, one's fourth amendment right preventing unlawful search and seizure, fifth amendments rights against self-incrimination. This provision gave rise to the infamous case, Miranda v. Arizona which requires the government to articulate an individual's rights if in custody. The sixth amendment rights provide for fair and speedy trial and the fourteenth amendment, through the substantive due process clause, is an additional avenue for individuals to restrain the government if one's personal liberties are infringed.

In addition to constitutional elements of criminal law, I am familiar with the prima facie elements of Louisiana criminal law. Each of the prima facie elements is specific and must be present to rise to the level of that crime.

Literature

I have a MA in British Literature.

Writing

I'm a master's candidate in English Literature and currently teach first year writing.
